Hey, I'm new to the Schrade forum, I haven't owned that many, and the only one I currently own is a NIB 340T that I bought the day Schrade announced they were closing, mainly as a "keepsake".

I am now getting the urge to start carrying and using it some, as I am in a "traditional" phase.

It's a "stock" Stockman (no pun intended) with Delrin scales, think I should leave it NIB or give it some pocket time?

Also, is it 1095 steel?

I think you should give it some pocket time. Specially since its your 1st Schrade. There are plenty of 34's around and if you decide to put one away you should have little trouble finding one.
Great knife which was one of their big sellers. Many variations were made to the scales and some customs exist.
Cant tell what steel you may have gotten as they were using both 1095 and Stainless in the last years. If it was a 100th anniv knife I'd bet it was stainless.

You aint the last... I have family all over North and South Carolina whom would dispute the fact!

HAHA...I get that alot! Thanks for the info' it's not an anniversary edition, it's a plain jane boxed not clampacked brown delrin. I have seen some of the wood handled ones still going cheap, so I may grab one of those and put it up and carry this one. when it comes ot slipjoints, I am mainly an SAK carrier, but ever so often I like to use one of my Stockmen.

Man in Gray.....
As I have contributed to a massive thread drift in your other thread about Schrade+ (once 440A, near the end 420HC) and/or 1095 carbon steel on your OT...may I suggest the lemon law, as it were. Stick one blade in the lemon, it will only take 10 minutes or so to start to patinize (is that a word?) if it's 1095. It won't do anything to Schrade+. Not all of them were properly marked near the end, so we can't go by that stamp/no stamp thingy. Might even have BOTH kinds of steel in a multiblade, as has been reported.....

Oh, if you don't like the patina, and don't have a metal polish like Brasso, Flitz, Mother's, etc.........WD40 will take it off if you are snappy about it... :D

Oh, oh, I vote for you using/enjoying the knife, as well.

Again, sorry for the hijack.

Bill
