I just received a Scott Cook damascus hunter. 3 5/8" damascus blade, contoured snakewood handle. All i can say is, WOW. Fit and finish are as perfect as it gets. The snakewood is beautifully patterned and smooth, the damascus blade has great patterning, and, unlike most damascus blades i have seen on custom knives, this one is razor sharp.

I heard that Scott was the shop foreman at Chris Reeve Knives and it shows. His workmanship is flawless and i really like the design of the knife as well. All for $375. I have spent a LOT more on customs that were not as well made.

So, if youre considering getting a Cook, and you appreciate exceptional F&F, go for it, you'll be a very happy camper, i know i am.

NICE knife.....are you going to use it or admire it? If you decide to use it, please let us know how you like it. I'm real curious about how the damascus blade compares to the other steels Scott uses.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim. Sorry to say, but while i have any number of production knives i use, i dont use my customs, theyre for admiring only. So, i wont be able to give you a review of the knife's cutting ability, though just looking at the wickedly sharp edge/grind, i have little doubt this thing is born to cut. The blade, both its profile and grinding actually remind me of the blade on a Sebenza, again, Scott worked at CRK and i guess took some of that with him.

That is a beautiful looking large, full grip handle Owyhee. The lines of this knife are incredibly smooth and have a wonderful flow to them. Snakewood is a favorite of mine and that damascus looks great.

Wow.., I admittedly don't own one of Scott's knives.., but my friend Gary Graley ("G2")...pointed me at them.., and the non-ownership part will change quickly. Gorgeous knife..., and I would use it.. :)

Oh dont worry about scratching it, im the world's most anal and careful custom knife collector, its VERY safe with me. :)

Wish i had the bal, er, guts, to use it, but i decided long ago to not use my customs, only admire them. I have plenty of great production knives that i can use, no need to ruin these rather pricey works of art. Actually, at $375, this is easily my cheapest custom, and yet, i think i like it more than some of my more expensive knives.

Cant recommend Cook highly enough, just a beautifully made knife.
