Recently recieved a new sebenza and noticed it had new screws. They no longer have the "shiny" side like before. Both sides have a socket for the wrench. However, the one side has deeper socket holes and is inset a tiny bit. Looks quite nice actually. Ill post some pics later

I am very interested to see what the new screws look like. Please post some pics when you can.

Did your Sebenza come directly from CRK? When was it born?

Blech. It may be a minor point, but I do not like the new screws...(I'll probably come around ;)

no me gusta tambien. I'm sure it's not a huge deal, but less material = less strength on some level, I reckon... I can already hear the responses... "Chris would NEVER make it WEAKER!" ...anyway, how can this be an improvement? Will the knives come with TWO wrenches now?

Don't like it too much either. I turned my old-style screws the other way, thus having all sockets on the clip-side. But hey, what can we do...

Glad you like it, that's what counts. We Sebenzistas are generally a conservative lot. :)

I like it. I think it's more aesthetically pleasing for both screw sides to look the same. Plus, the regular way it came from CRK with the plain side on the back never quite matched with the clip screw on that side.

I like the new screw style. I only used to flip mine around because I like all the hex heads on the same side as the clip. But I always liked the look of them on the front as well. So now I get both of what I have always liked.........Like anything, you will not make everyone happy. But I look at it this way. If Chris likes it, thats good enough for me.

Looks good, but I prefer the old style. I love the look of flipped matte screws on the micartas.

Old pic, the Ti scales on the small have that nice worn look now:thumbup:
Pretty sure this was the first small micarta sold(not that it matters,lol)...unless they sold any before the Blade debut. BTW, CRK is great! I got a small reg sebbie in, and the next day I saw in Blade mag that year that the micarta would be debuted at the Blade Show . I called the shop to see if I could swap for the micarta at the show, and they said no problem:thumbup::thumbup:

I wonder if we will be able to order the screws and washers. I just got a seb 21 second hand. The screws are kinda striped out but still work. I would hate to send the knife in just to get those parts. But I guess it wouldnt hurt to give it a pro tune up. What kind of turnaround time is usual?

couple weeks usually. i think they sell the screws though

I've bought Sm seb screws from CRK... they were expensive though... something like $10 each set = $30 for the whole seb. It was around 8 years ago however.

I like to reverse the screws also. It just looks neater that way- all the hex heads on the lock side, and you can really appreciate CRK's awesome polishing job on the domed pins from the front. Plus, since I learned that trick from a knife nut buddy of mine, I always felt it was a little "hint" that quietly announced to everyone that I had grown up to become a true CRK connoisseur.

I just got my large 21 and it has the new screws. Is it functionally any different? I haven't taken it apart yet, will update later.

The screws still work exactly the same. It just looks different on the outside. You only unscrew the one side and the other is still a female screw.
