Just wanted to post and say thanks to Chris Reeve for creating such a wonderful knife. I just got a large regular Sebenza yesterday and it is the best knife I have ever purchased. I didn't get this directly from Chris because apparently this knife is so popular that he has an 8 week waiting list, I now see why. This is a 2002 version with s30v stainless blade and it is hair popping sharp right out of the box. Lockup is PERFECT, just left of dead center in the open position, and no play in any direction. Handle is very comfortable and great for my large hands. Clip is set up nice and high so it rides low and relatively inconspicuous in jeans. I would say to all the people out there that are thinking about getting a Sebenza, DO IT, you will not be disappointed. Just thought I would let everyone know that there is new Sebenza fanatic on the forums.

Keep those knives coming Chris, THANKS.

You picked a good knife to become fanatical about. I have always like the solid construction and overall quality of these knives.

Boo,

It's a great knife. Also, don't forget, CRK also has great customer service. They will take care of your knife !!

I got my first one a couple months ago and ended up buying another one!

Now that I got a Sebbie and I like the quality, I am looking at picking up a CRK fixed blade. I am leaning towards the Green Beret knife, looks pretty sweet.

It's only the BEST and i have one in my pocket right now! hehe

Cheers!
James

Maybe I mentioned it before, but while buying my first Seb, I handled the Yarborough and was SOLD. The pics don't do either one justice. You need to handle one and even if you don't have the opportunity, I can't imagine anyone being dissapointed. Maybe it's just me, and I impress easy. Somebody back me up...

Congrats on your new knife - it's a great choice.

Lock-Up coverage - I'm assuming your just left of dead center means it's slightly less than 50%.
Chris Reeve used to spec the Sebenza's lock-up coverage at 75% -
(although I can no longer find the reference on his web site, I did read a reference only a few months ago in March/2003).

So perhaps his specs for the Sebenzas have changed?

Yup, it doesn't quite get to the halfway point when the blade is opened.

I finally caved. I ordered a small Sebenza from Tad Gear this morning, it should be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait. Never actually held one in my hand before, but everybody sure seems to like them so I figured I should pick one up. They had the best pricing I could find and actually had the small ones in stock in both regular and classic forms.

I had a large Sebenza on order, and I just cancelled it! Yup, I read a post on here where folks said the Seb is a great knife but non-knifers look at it and say, "You spent hundreds of dollars on that?" Instead I'm going for the Strider, I look the look better, and I like how people will say, (in Australian accent) "Now that's a knife!"

Plus Strider is American made, and I've decided that matters to me.

The Sebenza is made in Idaho, a member of the United States IIRC :)

I thought it was made in South Africa? Or is that just where the profits go?

My next knife will be a Sabenza. I love these things and sold one quite a while ago. After many productions and customs, it's become very clear - Sabenza is the way to go. It's a real user that feels very custom.

Chris Reeve was born in Duban, South Africa but moved to the US in 89. All his knives are made in Idaho, as was previosly mentioned. (info from the Chris Reeve website)

Those Striders are great knives too from what I have seen, but I prefer the syle and looks of the Sebenza for an EDC. A little more understated.
