I wanted something new in a Ti framelock so I ordered a large Sebenza 21 since I've never owned one.

I was looking for a Benchmade 760BK LFTi Lum in M4 but I wasn't able to find one some weeks back. Right after I ordered the Sebenza I found the Benchmade in stock and now I'm kind of kicking myself.

I called and the vendor back right away but he said it was already shipped but I could open it and if I didn't like the large Seb to call him and return it. He said he doubts I will.

I have several 3.5" folders and they're ho-hum. I really like my Spyderco Police 3, Military and Benchmade 710 all approx. 4 inchers. I like longer blades.

What do you guys think about how a large Sebenza will stack up against the Benchmade 760BK LFTi? It ain't about the money, it's about the size and quality.

I assume that both are high quality Ti framelock folders?

i think you will really like the sebenza, personally i prefer it to the BM, the sebenza has a higher F&F and a better pocket clip. once you get it in hand you will like it :D ;)

Both are very well made, strong capable folders. I guess it really all comes down to personal preferance and what makes you happy. The main thing that the sebenza has over the BM is the tighter tolerances and fit and finish. Both knives will last your lifetime if not abused and both will do their intended jobs just fine. It also depends on what quality of folders you're used to and what you look for in a quality folder. If you look for pure function and reliability the BM will suit your needs perfectly. However if you're used to other real high end production knives and custom knives and cosmetic blemishes and f&f are a huge thing to you then the Sebbie is what will make you happy. I've owned a Bradley Alias 1 and a Mini Skirmish 635 and both are very nice knives with great framelocks, semi circular blade tang faces for longer lasting and more reliable lock wear, and fantastic blade grinds. I would be 100% satisfied if I had not been spoiled by some other knives with greater fit and finish. Now I notice the grind marks on the edges of the scales and other imperfections that bug me quite a bit. On the Alias I did a scotchbrite finish and it really showed the grind marks that the bead blasting hid. It actually bugged me quite a bit so I did a hand satin finish on all the flat edges of the scales. It looks like a much higher end knife now.

I think you will absolutely love the Seb as its a tribute to what a quality production company can accomplish with a little extra time and commitment, but if you get it and find that its just too beautiful to use then sell it here and pick up a less expensive framelock.

I spent a lot of years and money buying folders convinced that the Sebenza was just an overpriced knife.

I finally got one - a large classic - and it constantly finds its way back into my pocket.

I have owned many BM knives - unfortunately not the model you are considering - and although they are fine knives - the Sebbie just hits the spot.

I have never owned a knife with the fit and finish as good as the Sebenza.

This is actually the most expensive folder I've ever bought. In a couple of sentances that's what the vendor told me. He said to "check it out" for a couple of days before returning it for the Benchmade 760BK, as he was pretty certain I'd be keeping it. Thanks guys. :)

You will keep it. I don't have any experience with that particular Benchmade but the Sebenza is almost the perfect knife. I love mine.

my experience with the 760 was a poor one...the one i have seen i did not like at all...it looks cool and all but the lock was all over the place and the tip down carry makes you come into contact with the overly sharp jimping on the thumb ramp, while going in and out of your pocket, and it eats up your hand. and the pocket clip i HATED...i think you will really like the sebbie though, i have owned too so far and they are very nice blades for sure :D

Ive got 4 or 5 CRKs and a BM760. I dont think there is Any Comparison
between the 2 knives. The BM 760 locks up unconsistantly....sometimes
too tight sometimes too loose.
Keep the CRK it Will Grow On You:D

Wow, now I remember reading these same remarks back when I was looking for one some months back. The 760 is big and the the whole knife just looks cool as heck to me. I trust you guys' 1st hand opinions a lot. I guess I forgot??

I guess the old saying "Looks ain't everything" would apply to this otherwise cool looking framelock. :)

I found the Large Sebenza to be too heavy compared to my G10 Military, which is a bigger knife all around, so I can't see myself ever carrying the Large Sebenza, and I only want to own one large folder. I have no experience with the BM model you mentioned.

My first Sebenza (Large 21) didn't meet my quality expectations, so I returned it, but my Small 21 is a very hight quality knife, marginally better quality and twice as expensive as any other knife I've owned, and the weight is reasonable for a 3-inch bladed knife.

3-inch bladed knife

I don't see any use for a 3" bladed knife except if you're a whittler or as a "fixed" hideout like my Izula or Street Beat. I like longer blades. The 710 is about right for me.

My Military is a bit odd but I keep it since it has a niche in my collection, representative of longer blade Spydercos along with the Police 3 G-10.

Sorry about your bad luck with the Sebenza. :(

If I want it I'll keep it, if not, my vendor said to send it back, pretty simple really. :)

The feedback on the BM 760 rekindled the memories of bad reviews I read about is several months ago, so I won't be replacing the Seb with that. That much I'm sure of.

My thoughts are the opposite , if I need a blade over 3" , it's gonna be a fixed blade :)

I think you will like the Seb over the BM760.

No, I think we're on the same page. I like longer blades folding and fixed. :)

Just kidding - on occasions only. :D

I've never owned a Sebenza because it doesnt seem like enough knife for the money to me.

I will soon have an opportunity to handle an Insingo and I think that might be the one for me.

I dont know why it just seems sexier to my eyes.

The Zaan is too complicated.
