Just got a new small 21 and the bead blast on the titanium seems rougher than the on a large 21 micarta i got last winter. I've caried the large 21 nonstop since i got it and i suspect that has smoothed the finish a little but i still think the new one is a little too abrasive. Any thoughts on how i could polish the new one and make it a little smoother? I have some barkeeper's friend that i'm getting tempted to try on the inside of a handle slabe to see what it does. I wouldn't mind if the handles lost a little grip or looked a little more shiny. Any advise, experience, or wisdom would be appreciated.

pack it,they smooth out in pants.

+1, esp if jeans/denim.

Some will be a little smoother than others(I've had one that was a bit rougher as you describe), but I would think your older one has smoothed a bit more than you realize.

If me, I would carry it a while just to see if it will smooth to your liking before I fooled with it.

Remember, that roughness adds a bunch of grip. It's not a big knife so you need every bit of grip you can get. I'd certainly not jump to ideas you're gonna regret soon. It's a new knife, you paid a justifiable large amount of money, treat it with some respect.

Or said in fewer words: Count to ten. ;)

I would try just buffing it on my jeans/rubbing it with my thumbs/maybe rubbing it while wearing a rough-out leather glove first - just to accelerate the normal pocket wear process.

Once you start using media on it, the change will be more dramatic and discontinuous.

Just take a little off at a time.

I carried mine for a few months and then had to send it back to the SPA. When I got it back, I relaized how much it had smoothed out in the few months of carry.

Just carry it a bit.
