I have enough funds to purchase another Sebenza. I am stuck between a small micarta insingo or a large Micarta 21. After seeing the writeup on the insingo in this forum I am really interested in the design. I like the feel of the large Sebenza. I'm only asking for help since this will be the last knife I buy for a long time.

I have a small insingo micarta and believe it is the best edc knife I have ever purchased (I have purchased 100's of knives over the years.)

I am a proponent of the Plain Jane flavor of the small Insingo. I have had both the Plain Jane and micarta versions and always opted for the Plain Jane. Eventually the small micarta Insingo was sold.

HOWEVER,

I can almost guarantee you will not be disappointed with either choice. It's almost like choosing between a vanilla ice cream cone or a chocolate ice cream cone. I mean, it is ice cream--how could you go wrong?

I'm actually in a similar situation here. I can't decide on which Sebenza to get for my first. But I am drawn toward the small 21 based on specs alone. They're similar (slightly larger) to my Benchmade Mini-grip which is a personal favorite EDC.

If you like the Mini-grip, I believe you will love the small 21. My happy discovery with the small is how sturdy and powerful it is. More than enough cutting edge. All the precision and craftsmanship of the large.

If its your do everything knife , you mite be better off with a large . But a small is a great carry knife .

This is good to know. And the Mini-grip tends to be my go to EDC knife now days. It's always done everything I've needed and would likely do a lot more. Smaller in size doesn't mean small in capability in this case.

I have the Mini-grip(Ritter). It's a fine knife. The small 21 is a big step up. I do believe it will even cut your steak. My newly acquired current philosophy toward CRKs, is to buy a gently used, well cared for model with the box, papers (especially the Birthday card) at the best price. That way, if you've never had the opportunity to handle a CRK, and the one you picked isn't the perfect one, you can always sell it, and not get hurt. Further, if you do like your chosen one, CRKs' customer service is outstanding and can return it to you as if it were new. Just a thought.

Your strategy makes a lot of sense. I wish I did that for my first purchase. No regrets at all with what I have but I would have gotten it at a lower price.

My large carbon fiber damascus Sebenza is used a lot as a Steak knife lol. If I were ever to sell it here , you could smell the steak aroma. I think that I will look for a large I nsingo Sebenza. I will be using this one camping and hunting and the usual tasks.

I have both large and small 21s. Some with Insingo and one with micarta. The small 21 (in either blade format) is in such a great EDC form factor it has and will stand the test of time. It's popular for a reason...it's good looking and hard working. All the qualities of any good partnership.

I've owned only large model CRKs but as everyone seems to LOVE their small Insingo that is my next CRK purchase, whenever that is. With micarta, or preferably CF if KnifeArt makes one.
