The new Sharp Hunter,
The former Schrade Sharpfinger had approx. 3/4" spot at the choil area that was ground but could not be sharpened well because the grind was too steep in this spot. Is the new Sharp Hunter the same or is it usuable for the full length of the grind?

Is this knife currently available, if yes where? I haven't seen it anywhere except Camillus's website.

Thanks,

Over at the Schrade forum, we broke the news about the Camillus version of the Schrade classic long before it was made public here. Covered in this thread:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327284&highlight=camillus

One of our members actually bought the knife to compare it to the original. Make a post over there asking, and he will answer your question.

In the same thread I make note of the problems getting answers here at the Camillus forum about the products the company currently makes and has made in the past.

Here's another currently produced copy of the Sharpfinger, this one by fine company 'Bear and Son':

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping camillus would have commented on my questions but didn't. :(

I liked the original Sharpfinger from Schrade so much that I did buy two of Camillu's new ones to see for myself. The camillus cuts better but the handle is not finished as nicely as my Schrades.

I'm going to keep one for myself and rehandle it in something like jigged buffolo horn (looks like impala horn) and give the other one as a gift.

Someday I will make my own version of this knife.

It's worth following the link to the 'other forum', for several pics of the knife, but here is one showing the sheath as well. With your permission, Collector...
