I've been using cheap stones to sharpen my pocket knives and my wifes nice kitchen knives. I'm looking at the spyderco triangle sharpmaker and the wicked edge setup. Is the wicked edge that much better? All the reviews are very positive and it looks easy to use. Will the spyderco be just as easy to use or will it leave me frustrated? I've seen mixed reviews with the sypderco, too. Thanks for the help/suggestions.

Greytamer,
I find the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker a pleasure to use- I have not used the Wicked Edge. Once you read the booklet or the DVD, it makes it simple to understand. I now leave it open on the 40 degree honing most of the time with the fine stones( I am looking at getting the ultra fine stones next), unless I get a new knife that I need to take the back bevel down on(i.e. new Busse or Swamp Rat). I think once you understand the system, the rest is easy as it takes care of the angle on the edge of your blade, as long as you keep the blade vertical- Also allows for speed work, which I prefer for honing.
Simple and quick - I do not know what I did without it.
Good luck with your choice,
Cheers,
Guy

Thanks Guy,

I appreciate the feedback. Simple and quick is what I'm looking for, so I think I'm going to go with the spyderco. I just find it hard to commit so much more money to the WE if I can get a similar end result with the sharpmaker.
