So i got my SS back from BAN (Damn its SOOOOO nice:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D) but the new handles are a lil bit bigger than befor so now my Okuden kydex does not work. Can that be fixed?? I was thinking about just using a heat gun?? Will that work?

Will anyone at Blade have a leather sheath for my SS i want to bring it to show it off but i need a sheath. :D:D thanks

Heat gun can work, but temp control is tricky, easy to damage the plastic. You might not want to learn on a nice sheath. Boiling water will soften the kydex with out damage, but it might change the fit on the blade, too.

Yes, you should be able to find sheaths there, from cheap utility up to nice stuff.

i did the boiling water and it worked. But im still gonna look for a leather sheath and a FAT GW and sheath for that at blade. :D

I got the impression form an earlier post that Okuden is going to be at Blade. He should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do to fix the problem.

A heat gun works fine, just be careful not to get ahead of yourself.

I find myself wanting to tune up Kydex all the time, so I got a little weenie heat gun like this: http://www.blockheadstamps.com/tools-heat.html (the Marvy one) at a local craft store. Not the most manly thing in the world, but a lost less likely to melt your sheath into oblivion, and easier to direct the heat.

A hair dryer would be easier to use for tune-ups than a shop-style 1500* heat gun. The little one heats up faster and is more acute than a hair dryer, though.

My wife's hair dryer did not do a good job at all. Not enough heat, not direct enough. The boiling watter did make it soft enough to shape. Nice and tight now. (for my SS sheath)

A few seasons ago I was going to buy the whole caboodle for making sheaths. Arbor press, dies, kydex press, supplies etc. Then I made a snap purchase of a battle ax and matching viking sword. I really wish I had gotten the kydex equip to make sheaths. (although I do have a pretty bitching viking costume for halloween though, and I guess I could slay zombies with them too)

well i was in a hurry and unable to look for a sheath for my new jackhammer, can someone check the spec ops sheaths, they say 6" knife and 8" knife, the jackhammer is 6 1/2" wonder how close the fit is, i would hate to have 1 1/2" of nothing. maybe if someone could get a jackhammer and go fit it to one, if they have some there that is.

We need pics. You can't Ban an SS without giving us pics!

You didn't REALLY just say this after saying:

And not giving us pics did you?

:D

What's a jackhammer?

Basically, it's a clip-point Satin Jack TAC with CBT. They were offered with the Les Baer Busse 1911 packages. Here's one from Blade 2008 (someone else's picture:tinman44):

Rick, I can't see the inscription on the blade using my sidekick. What does it say? And are those Tigerhide mags?

Late response (I took some of the junior guys at work out shooting) but here goes:

It says "2008 Special Edition".

The handles look like black canvas micarta, but that's just a guess.

This Halloween I carried the CS ax and the sword (the CS ax is much less prone to impale body parts on......the head on the double battle ax is stinking sharp, and all 4 points are way sharp and pointy).

This ax is a CS poll ax head that I fit on a Pick handle (took some serious thumb busting for whittling). I need to do more with the costume (other things have taken precedence over a real helmet and shield, and chainmail- after all Infi is not free).
