Hey All,
Been busy these days, I just finished up this sheath for my Parang. It came out pretty nice, I used 8/9oz leather, textured and simple line work, it's dyed with Fiebings dark brown and Montana pitch blend dressing and stitched with artificial sinew. I also used a stainless D-ring between the sheath and the belt loop, this gives the Parang full mobility when moving. I was using removable type D-rings but at 12 bucks apiece they are a bit pricy. Hope you guys like it.

Pugs-That is fantastic work-My Q would be,what would be a realistic price for you to make that sheath available for sale?

Please take this type of inquiry off the forum. Selling/buying is to be done in the Exchange, Especially since the OP does not have the appropriate Craftsman membership.

Sorry Karda,
I did not mean to be inappropriate in my post. I was just thinking out loud.

Mister Pug, how hard is it to make our own sheath? I've always wanted to give it a shot but as a typical newbie looking at a new potential hobby, I'm clueless where to start. :p

It is not that hard to do my friend, I have only been making them for around a year now. I will send you a pm with some info.

I started in leather crafting a few months ago. One way to start is with the local Tandy leather shop, my shop in Raleigh offers a free 4 week class on the basics. You have to buy their leather working basic set as a minimum so you have some tools and some basic projects to practice with. It covers tooling and dying, basic stitching. Like any hobby it can get expensive. I didn't take a class when I made my first one. Hey you can make your own belts, gun leather, guitar straps, book covers, nice gifts, and leather sheaths. I gave my first sheath away to a friend/ neighbor who is always deployed. I got a Chitlangi with a small crack in the handle and nothing else with it. Made him the sheath of similar construction as this one and he took it with him on this deployment. It was my first one, had many flaws on it but worked well. I would have proudly worn it.
Another HI Khukri goes to war, with my sheath, may he never need to use it. And if he does may it be our enemies heads that roll this time.

Outstanding job. I would love to have the ability to make something like that. First time I've seen the HI Parang close up as well.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. It is not very hard to make em, give it a shot.

That is a very clean and nice looking sheath. I have issues getting my stitching and finish up to snuff on my own. And I am envious of your parang as well, always liked the ones by HI.

Thank you, Stitching can be tricky, and finish is pretty easy. I try to keep them in the middle kind of satiny. PM me and I will give you some info on how to do it.
