New Sheath for Doug Ritter RSK MK3

I recently purchased a Doug Ritter RSK MK3 Fixed Blade and think it's a really nice knife, surprised how much I like it.

Though the sheath it came with was the worst sheath I've ever seen. :barf:

Does anybody here have an after market sheath they use with their Doug Ritter RSK MK3 Fixed Blade?

If so I'd appreciate a picture, or information on how you like your after market sheath and where you got it.

I'd like Kydex (but would be interested in what other options are available) something light weight. I think the fold over Kydex design would be lighter than the sandwich style... (less Kydex used)...

Thanks. Tom

Seems the sheath on my RSK Mk3 is a love it or hate it thing. What can I say? That's the way it is.

The sheath on any production knife is, by fiscal necessity, a compromise designed to provide acceptable utility for many users at a price that will not significantly adversely impact the sale price of the knife. It seems that no matter what sheath you include, 50%-75% of those buying the knife won't like it. That is the "wisdom" of the industry. Some smaller manufacturers don't even include a sheath anymore.

Many RSK Mk3 owners have had custom sheaths built of various materials to suit their particular needs, so that is always an option to get exactly the sheath you want. You can find a list of sheathmakers that should be able to assist you here: www.DougRitter.com/sheathmakers.pdf

Wish I had a better answer, but hope that this will suffice.

It surprises me that nobody has had a sheath made for their Doug Ritter RSK MK3.

Or that none of the sheath makers in this thread has made a sheath for the above mentioned knife.

Really? Maybe I'm posting this in the wrong thread...

Doug thank you for your reply.

It's proven once again, always best to start with the knife maker with such an inquiry.

Tommyguns, possibly the reason you have had so few replys to your request is that very few sheath makers are familiar with the terminolgy or names of the various knives available. Every knife maker (and there are many) seems able to give a name or number designation to their products that gives no indication as to whether it is sized like a machete or a small folder. With so little to go on as to the configuration, few of the custom sheath makers are tempted to reply to your query. There is an old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words"-----give it a try, you might like it ! ---Sandy---
