I was going through some odd my gear today and I came across this leather sheath I whipped up to hold a thin India stone. I got to looking at it and thought it might be a perfect pocket sheath for my 14. I tried it and it fit pretty well. I shoved a piece of leather down into it since I didn't make it with a welt. Then I got it wet and formed it around my 14. Here it is with my 14 sporting kryptoglow scales.

Cool stuff man! Loving those scales. Forgive my ignorance, but did you make those scales?

No they are made by a gentleman on bladeforums that goes by Kryptoglow. I actually won them in a giveaway he had. I love the way they look and the texture does offer a bit of grippyness, however I have 2 small issues. they are a little thicker than the zytel scales and dont fit in MY hands quite as well as the zytel ones. the inside of the scales are not formed like the zytel scales so lining them up is a little tricky. I batoned some wood today with my 14 and when I was done I had to re-align the handles. I am going to try to sand the inside of the.scales so they will stay in place better. that might help with the thickness too.

Cool. Thanks.
Maybe some epoxy would help with the alignment. A bit permanent though. How are the zytel? I've been thinking about them lately. Are they worth getting?

Nice set up OFM, if the handles are moving about you might wanna try making some liners that sit inside the webbing and epoxying them onto the scales.

Cool. Thanks.

Depends on your hand size or preference. I have smallish medium hands and find the zytel to small and slippery. Don't get me wrong though, at like $12 they're still worth it for a cheap fix if you don't want to spend $40 on some G-10 and not a fan of a 550 wrap.
