New sheath for my RC-3!

Although the sheath that comes with the RC-3 is more than adequate and I'm sure just perfect for jungle work, I wanted something less utilitarian looking (I know, I know, I'm a poser:D).

I put a thread on Britishblades asking if someone could make me a sheath and bambi answered my call.

Sending my knife to him in The Netherlands and getting it back with its new sheath took less than 2 weeks.

I'm very happy with what he has created. A kydex liner that has been wrapped in stiffened and weather proofed leather. I think it suits the good looks and functionality of the knife perfectly.

I like to wear the knife bandoleer style under a jacket, hence the bungey cord.

Martin posted a thread in the wilderness section with some pictures of his excellent sheaths, I think there's also a link to his very interesting blog.

Very cool! Any chance we could get a pic while your wearing it? I've been curious about harness type carry options.

I'm seeing my dad tomorrow and I'll get him to take a picture.

It's a very simple way of carrying the knife, worn underneath a fleece jacket no one knows it's there. I hasten to add that I don't EDC the knife, but when fishing I prefer not to have a knife on obvious show to all and sundry.

I think if you get the molle backing you'll be able to use a bungey cord and rig it bandoleer style like I do.

I tried rigging the plastic sheath that came with my knife bandoleer style but because it was so light, when I leaned over the weight of the knife handle would flip the whole lot upside down. To rig it securely you would have to use 2 bungey cords one rigged through the top eyes of the sheath and going over your shoulder. The other bungey rigged through the bottom 2 eyes of the sheath and pulled around the lower ribs.

One thing which I really did like about the original sheath was that I could quite comfortably put it in the front pocket of my jeans. Also the original sheath makes the knife very quick and easy to draw.

Beautiful, functional sheath! I personally prefer a nice leather sheath for my blade. I really like yours. Gonna have to look into getting one. :)

Wow, I can't believe that after all this time this thread got resurrected.

I'm really sorry that I never did get any pictures taken of me wearing it bandoleer style.

These days I either keep it in my front right trouser pocket or wear it on my belt.

Here's a couple more pictures.

When the RC-10 arrives in the UK I'm going to buy one and send it to bambi and have a sheath made for it. I'm also thinking of buying another RC-3, due to the two is one, one is none philosophy!:D

Nice sheath, just as we have come to expect from Martin.

Congrats, hope you enjoy it.
