well I decided to redo the sheath for my leather handled Pen Knife. I didn't like the first one I made and decided to give it another go. without further ado here it is.

Thanks for Looking

the old one didn't work as well as I had hoped. It was a little too loose on the belt which made one had use difficult. So I figured I would make it more functional as well

Yeah, that first one is butt-ugly.

Send it to me, I'll dispose of it for you.

very nice.

Both are really nice work. I can tell that the latest one won't flop or slap around on your belt though, and I really like the stud over the snap.

Outstanding! Like the belt loop in the final design a lot. Keeps everything close to the body. Excellent!

Kudos to you Doug! That is some excellent leathercrafting and work I would even be proud to say was mine personally and you won't/don't hear me say that very often!  :D Way back when I was in my heyday I was my own worst critic and compared my leatherwork with the likes of Al Shelton and Al Stohlman although I knew I could never hold a candle to either of them but in order to keep improving oneself it's good to compare your own work to the very best.;) :D

I really like the way you finished all of the edges as well as the very neat sewing and the nice even finish with it's subtle shading. The swivel knife work isn't too bad either.;)

Thanks guys  a little inside secret Yvsa, no swivel knife (too broke right now) ended up using a bone folder for the design. The finish is coffee, yep coffee  hey look what it does to your teeth :D and to make it shine I took a page from Uncle Sam Misguided Children and put a coat of neutral polish on the whole thing. One day when I have the spare money I'll pick up a swivel knife and some basic stamps and see what I can do with them

I have five of Doug's sheathes with a sixth on the way. Most of my inspiration has come from looking at his work. Especially my liberal use of the adjustable and freehand groover.

Looks great - I like the keeper strap and stud. The design looks nice, too. I'd probably invest in some shading stamps before the swivel knife - the bone folder definitely got the job done on the cuts for this sheath, and some shading would really make it pop.

Thanks for the pics.

Doug, drop me an email with your name and address and I'll see what I can dig up around here.;)
It might be a while since this cold weather has me pretty stoved up but if I can't get in to do it I can enlist the aid of my Sweet Barbie as she can find anything if she knows what it looks like.... ;) :D
