A liner.

I lined this one with 3 oz veg tanned cowhide. In the future all my sheaths will be done this way. No flesh side showing. All edges polishable. And the color difference adds a neat highlight. I'm going to experiment with dying the liner and outter different colors too. Check out those edges. Many thanks to Mike T for suggesting the liner.

This is a sheath I'm proud of.

Very robust and good looking:) I'll never be the artist you are, Andy.

Thanks. If you think I'm good, you should see Mike Tea's work at KF. Dang.

Thank you guys. Its one thick walled sum of a gun.

Andy,
I have thought about going to a liner myself a couple times (might have to rethink it)...That is a nice set-up ya got there bro..

Great work, and a nice new technique. Is the lining cemented to the
outer layer, or is it "free floating"? Were there any problems such as
wrinkling, or other issues caused by the two layers, where the sheath
was bent? Finally, what is the knife?

Wow! I really like this Andy. But I really liked the last sheath you did for me as well, and on that one you smoothed the fleshy side so you could barely tell it was not the outer layer. Each time you post I can see another added improvement. Good stuff.

Thanks fellas. The layers were cemented together just after shaping of the two blanks. All the work progressed after that. Sound farmiliar Dave? I personally happen to like the fleshy side/finished side contrast. Theres a more in touch with the cow kinda feeling, IMHO. But this lining just finishes the thing. I'm going to experiment with some dies now too.

Thanks Kevin. They aren't designed to be babied. The ball peened area hides scratches really well. Even before the lining, they were tough. The leather on the one above started with 8-9 oz then cemented in 3-4 oz. Its thick.

The knife, btw, is a Gerber Yarrow. My buddy didn't like the original kydex sheath that came with it. This one is now black, btw.
