Hello All,
Just finished two sheaths for my Survival Knife and Parang. These two came out really nice. I am still very new to this, as these are my 4th and 5th I have made. I try to keep it very simple and functional for my needs. I don't embellish them with stampings just keep them plain. Lets start with the survival knife. Being a south paw, I made this one to carry on my left side, usually I make them for right side carry, why?? because I usually carry a sidearm when out and about. This sheath you actually can carry either side due to the squared bottom. I also added a firesteel that I made, whats a survival knife without a firesteel right:thumbup:. I will tell you if you are thinking of buying one of these blades, you will not be disappointed at all. Here are a few pics.

What ya think??

Next is for the Parang. This sheath was made with the same shackle system I made the others with, it allows the blade to move freely and not bind up when im moving or bending. I also can use this for baldric carry if necessary, im actually making an attachment for using a baldric. Here are a few pics.

Hope you guys like them and thanks for looking

Very nice work! Been thinking about a survival knife myself. Be good to have while trout fishing.

Wow, you're new to it? Could've fooled me, that's good looking stuff.

Pugs, those sheaths are nice and the knives make a nice pair for the woods. That is THE sheath a parang should ride in for heavy use. Great work!

Thank you for the compliments guys. This plus one more khuk is my go to kit from now on.
Moogoogaidan - I thought of putting some stuff in there. I have a small survival kit that I carry on my belt already, just have to add a wood screw, just in case I need to make a spear with the knife.

Really nice work, the fire steel holder really looks sharp. Did you learn from someone or via the internet/ books/ etc.? If a book or website, which one? Thanks.

Thank you homeka45, I did watch a video on making a sheath, saw a few pictures, then added my own flavor and jumped in. Its actually very easy, but you have to think it out before you start cutting and stitching.

Excellent work pugs, thank you for posting. Many of us have pondered the difficulties of waist belt only carry, and conclude that it is clumsy and impractical, especially for large or heavy blades. Any and all discussion of practical alternatives is commendable. Cheers, Mike.

...That is some amazing work. Where do you get your materials? Are you using a machine for the stitching?

Radrunner,
Thank you for looking. I usually look on Eb-y for some leather. All my stitching is done by hand, cant afford a machine.
