Alright all, need a little help with a decision. I'm changing positions at work and need a smaller knife that doesn't scare all the sheeple. My current thoughts are a 551 (probably s30v), Ritter full size, 943, or maybe the new 1000001. I would really like to get something in m390 but the 581 is going to be too large and the 586 too small. What are your thoughts?

I have a Ritter and a standard grip. I recently got my hands on the volli and have fell in love with it. It gets my vote.
IMO it's thinner and doesn't have the hollow feeling the grips do. An interesting, versatile and not too intimidading blade. And for me it's just different. In a good way.

I've played with the 556 and the mini is just too small for me. I can only get ahold of them with 2 fingers. Anyone else want to chime in?

There's a limited blue 707 sequel with m390 and carbon fiber inserts that's small and friendly looking!

I looked at Matt d tactical last week and I think they are sold out. I couldn't find them on the site.

I'm thinking that may be along the same lines as a mini-grip. Plus that's a bit more than I was looking to spend. Thanks for pointing that out! Damn nice looking knife!

Yeah but since you think the mini grip is too small the sequel is the same size. Even with my Medium sized hands i can only get a three finger grip. Its good as a gentleman's carry knife for opening letters and etc but nothing heavy. If you're looking for a full sized axis lock maybe look at the 940 series or 710? Both the 940 and 710 have a slimmer profile and might not scare the sheeple

940/943 or a 530 - All three are great. Ultra light, low profile, and still get the job done - without a brick in your pocket.

As much as I like the 710, which is a lot, it would be considered just a little large at my place of work.
That's not to say I don't get away with it occationally. ;)
But, if a mini-grip is too small, have you tried a 525?
They are a length that is just between a full size grip and a mini-grip.
There was a LE model in M4 that was for sale on one of the online knife stores recently.
Here's mine, seen here with Bone collector scales on it.
This combination is sometimes refered to as a "Bonesidio".

My son got a job as a HVAC control systems engineer, meaning he would be working both on closed construction sites and sites with people when they were updating old equipment. I got him a 943 and he loves it, uses it everyday, and it has not drawn any attention, even in high security areas.

Check out the 940 or 943. Slender, light, axis lock and are capable of any small to medium chores without challenge. Honestly the 94x series are "big" knives in a small knife and sheeple friendly body. Not to mention, they are considered BM classics, they come with great steel (S30V) and are amongst the smoothest functioning knives that BM has ever made. You will not be disappointed. Did I mention that they are sheeple friendly?

Among recommended (3" apx.) knives work friendly:

525
527
755
15030

Any of these would fill the requirement.

Anyone have a picture of a 943 next to a 710?

I couldn’t dig out the collection at the moment, but this should suffice for the time being, an old pick of the rotation. I know you asked for the 943, but the 940 is virtually the same size, so you get the idea. Hope it helps.

Thanks P_Meticulous! I'm still torn between the 551 and the 943, but in seeing them next to my standby 710 I think I might need to look at something even smaller to appease the people I work with. The search continues...
