2015 is turning out to be a year of major changes for me. I moved out of my parents house, moved shops, am getting married in September, and to top it off I am also having a table at the blade show for the first time this year. This was probably the worst year I could have picked to sell at the show because between moving, planning a wedding and my day job I have had very little shop time.

The "new shop" is a 30x30 block building that my great grandfather had. I wish I would have thought to take some pics before I had all of the work done to it. It has been sealed, framed, insulated, plywood put on walls and ceiling, new roof, electrical work, and will be getting painted later this week. I am super excited and so is my dad because now he has his shop back lol.

Here are a few pics of the shop I have been working in since I started making knives

As you can see it was not insulated, had very poor lighting for making knives, and no dust collection. I have a lot of cleaning up to do there :(

Here is the new shop!

A few handle materials

All the trash left from the move

A few blades waiting for handles

Glue up table

Lots of light

And now I don't have to be miserably hot in the summer or cold in the winter :D

I'm pretty much set now. Just have a little bit of organizing left to do.
I can't wait to start cranking out some knives!

Jarrett: I'm really happy for you and you've made a great decision to set up a new shop and expand your business. I have no doubt you will be very successful.

Jarrett,

that is great. Good for you. It takes guts and determination to move things like this forward sometimes (as well as time and money.) And as winger51 said I too am sure you will be very successful. At such a young age with the talent you have you deserve to be able to showcase it and I KNOW a workshop like this is going to elevate your whole game.

AWESOME!

Thanks guys. I have been dreaming of a shop like this for the past 3 years

Jarrett:

Your new shop looks fantastic, lots of room for a growing enterprise. Can't wait to see it once you've have it painted & start collecting interesting memorabilia to give it a distinct personality.

Congratulations on all counts & best wishes for continued success.

Great to see your progression. Expecting good things to come from your hard work and drive. Can't wait to see your BladeShow table!

Congratulations on the move to the new shop and your upcoming wedding. Those are big events in your life. You have done very well out of your humble starter shop. I can't wait to see what you come up with now that you will have some larger space and better lighting and HVAC equipment to make it more comfortable to work in.

I look forward to meeting you at The Blade Show.

Phil

Congrats Jarrett! That place looks awesome. Would love a shop that nice!

Sounds like a pretty good year so far to me. Hope it continues to get better for ya.

Looks great with plenty of room to work. Looking forward to seeing you at the Blade Show.

Great looking shop Jarrett! Beautiful knives also! Wish I had known you were up in Athens while I lived there! Love that town. Was there for about 7 years but left 2 ago. Are you familiar with Bloodroot Blades up in Athens?

Chris I have met the guys from Bloodroot Blades once or twice, but I don't know them that well.
Thanks everyone!

Wow...the shop looks fantastic! There is no doubt in my mind that great things will happen for you Jarrett!!! Congratulation of the shop and your upcoming marriage!!

Just dropped by to say you had some fantastic knives at the guild meeting and looks to be a sweet shop too

This is amazing. I'm so jealous of craftsman. One day I would like to learn more about building and crafting.
