New Short Sword Fresh Off The Bench

Hi everyone,

I just finished this short sword. It has a 16.75" forged blade of 1075 carbon steel and a 9.5" wrapped walnut core handle. It's a compact, solid piece, around 2.5lbs., but fast and nimble in the hand. I wanted to give it a slight Japanese/fantasy look, and I hope I succeeded. I appreciate your comments.

Dan, it's made with a peice of the steel Baron's unheat treated 1084 steel. I keep it waxed to prevent rust, seems to work fine.

I only recently became interested in knives, so unfortunately I can only say from a beginner's perspective that it looks great. I certainly appreciate how much time and skill it must have required. Congratulations, I would be very proud of it.

Oh, it is absolutely battle ready, I would never make a sword that can not be used.
