As of this post time, it hasn't been out of the mailbox more than 15 min., but first impressions count!! The knife is very close to perfect. Just enough small places for a mold-makers burr file to make me feel I had some say in the matter. You cann't see them, just feel an extra edge here and there. The sheath is great - Tip may need a re-mount, but that's why I had all this epoxy and marine cement sitting around. The small blades are like jewelry. The blade is also a gem - perfectly symetrical from every angle, and will almost pop hairs with the grease still on it. Questions - How do you tell who made this beauty? I'd like to send him my thanks. Has anyone used Lexol on Buffalo Hide? Every leathersmith I know praises it to the heavens, but it may not work on everything. That's all I have time for - got to go pla...er, research my new blade

I haven't tried the lexol on the scabbards, but sure don't see what it would hurt.
Even the Ballistol-Lube I us doesn't seem to soften the water buffalo hide that much. I believe it's because the hide isn't fully cured into leather and is still mostly in a rawhide state. The leather for the frogs has been fully cured though and I like a little softness in the frogs since it makes them more flexible and easier to wear.

Are you gonna be able to carry it as you had hoped?

Yeaah, it is some little knife. I'm still in the "fondling" stage of my research, but I believe the poor little over-traveled thing may have to make one more trip - like Claremore & back - before I can sling it under my arm. IWB was a consideration (my Bowie works well this way) but the Sirupati strikes me as just a bit scary for quick handling in IWB. Not that I'd have much to lose, but I don't have much, so don't want to lose it. I'd carry for cross-draw, reverse grip in either case, for a quick defensive slash, and block with the stick. Given just that amount of time, a return to saber grip and the three Gorkha martial arts moves from the survey Geldu reported on the HI site would be enough, I think, to give me everything I need, and an adversary more than he wanted. I tossed this off to a friend in Rapid City, an Arnis champ who owns a dojo, and he agrees with the principles but thinks I should stay home and watch TV, or clean my guns.

:
I usually carry a bigger blade when I am out in semi public places like our local nature preserves. I openly carried the 17" steel mounted villager on a recent walk through the most isolated one a while back.
And I carry the little balance model I have sorta concealed in my front pocket at the other less isolated preserve.
And when running around town I carry either my Moran Spydie or my Marble's Woodcraft on my belt. The ends peek out and I have walked closely by many LEO's and nothing has ever been said.
But half the battle is looking like an inoffensive person and at our age and walking with a stick of some sort that's easy to pull off.
When I go out in crowded areas like a movie theatre I usually hide things a bit better though, no use taking too many chances.

Terry is the guy to make you a concealed carry for your Sirupati.
I am sure of your complete satisfaction as Terry will work on something until it suits you.
And good leather is a lot more comfortable than the hard plastics to wear, especially down the britches, no matter the form of carry.
