FYI, my PhotoPoint site now a thing of the past. As a result, any pix I posted in old threads will no longer work. I probably have copies either locally or on my new site. Feel free to write if you can't find one you want.

Bill, if I were at all confident that PhotoPoint would survive as a free service, I would have taken the easy route & paid for it too. However, given all the dot-coms that have failed -- including a bunch of my clients -- I decided to bite the bullet & make the switch now.

I've paid for a year's membership in PhotoPoint; I hope I get my money's worth and it doesn't go bellyup like so many of the dotcom flashes which have left craters in the local economy and geography. It's clear that the idea (upon which PhotoPoint and so many failed ventures were premised) that casual web visitors will support the huge expense of maintaining a server by voluntarily clicking on advertising links is generally a failure. I enjoy the privilege of having a small web presence that I can share with my friends via PhotoPoint, and don't mind paying a reasonable fee for the privilege. Whether people like me can support the service remains to be seen. In the meantime it wouldn't kill you to click on the BladeForums sponsor's ad on this page, or we may soon be having this discussion by CB radio or snail mail
