Skarb will be introducing a new version of its knife sharpener at the Blade Show this June. Most reviews have considered the skarb as the best of the clamp systems available. Unique to the skarb are: infinitely adjustable angle guide, the ability to use any 2" or 3" sharpening stone, and an optional clamp to hold large spined knives (3/16 to 1/4") such knives as the large Cold Steel hunters and Bowies and many hand-forged knives.

The new model is fully sand blasted and has a deeper base to hold your stones more securely. In addition to these production enhancements, we will be introducing a new plate to hold your spyderco triangular stones so that their apex is at the top. With this device you will be able to sharpen any recurve blade all the way to the hilt.

We will be set up at table 18 u. Come by and chat or have your knives sharpened in about 5 minutes.

Do you have a web site? My attitude towards sharpening systems is that if I don't have it, I need it.

I think I must have caught something from this forum. I'm having more fun sharpening my knives than dulling them.

Is the plate for the Spyderco triangles separate from the new deeper plate? Does it fit the older models?

It would seem like you could just mill an indentation in the new stock plate for Spyderco triangles since they are so narrow.

The Skarb system rocks.

Do you have pictures available for your system?

I'd like to see what the system looks like, as well as some pricing info, and where I can buy it.

Please e mail me with the info if that is possible.

Thank you.

Mike

When will the new skarb be available to the public? When it comes out, will you put it on your website with the price shortly after? This sounds like a good system.

Skarb has a website: www.skarb.com. The unit you see is identical to the new model, except for the changes mentioned. I prefer the look of a finished machined part which shows the lathe marks. However, people like Joe Talmadge thought that the unit would be spiffier if it's production values were improved - therefore the change. The new accessorie is simply a 2 x 6 plate with a beveled slot in the center into which you slide your spyderco stone.

If you check the website you will find some quotes from the various tests which have been made on the skarb. If you wish a full - text copy of the tests, simply go to the website for info.
