new skeletool CX, Lock up issues...

So, I ordered a skeletool CX while my Gerber that I use for work is waiting on a new spring, button, and C-Clip. Got it today and it's a Brilliant piece of kit. the first MT that might actually occasionally move a standard knife out of my pocket.

Now, Here's my issue, the Lockup with the framelock is fully engaged to the other side of the blade already. Actually on initial lock up, the lock bar sticks out slightly PAST the blade on the opposite side, leaving basically NO room for where. Does anyone else's have this problem? I will probably call leatherman about it when I get the parts for my gerber so I'm not without a multitool at work, but it's a bit frustrating.

Take it apart, reassemble and sometimes that works. I have the same "issue" but for a multitool I'm OK with it.

yeah, I may do that as well. I'm torn on just not worrying about it for the same reason, it's a multi tool, I'll always have a knife with me as well, so it's not the end of the world...

i looked at my cx and it is pretty much riding on the far end up against the round pivot. I don't think it was designed any different and would assume it won't ever go beyond the pivot. My cx is only a week or so old but the lockup is pretty solid. If concerned check out a few others if you can at a shop that sells them. If no luck leatherman has an excellent warranty and will check your tool out and make sure it's right.

Just got my CX and the lock up is the same. Almost to the pivot. Seems solid though so I'm inclined to ignore it unless it gets loose.

Off topic but is this thing cool or what? I haven't bought or even thought about multitools for probably a decade now. Picked this one up on whim for 52 bucks new. Have to say I'm very impressed. To the point that I'm hard pressed to put it down or be without it!

Mine rides all the way over too. I think that's just the nature of the beast. After a year of nearly daily carry and use, mine is still locking up tight when the blade is deployed.

I'm not a HUGE fan of combo edges, but for a general purpose pocket knife and tool, the CX is a great little EDC. If only they hadn't completely stripped down the Freestyle. That would be a real minimalists dream.

I agree completely with your views on the freestyle. Who needs a knife and a plier? Not me. Perhaps scaling down the skele would have been a better option? Of course it's pretty small as it is.
You know I've had and admired like alot of guys over the years knives of various sorts. I think one of the best things they ever came out with was the Pocket Clip. That has put me into the mode of everyday carry whereas without a clip I am less prone to edc because I cannot stand a knife in pocket or a sheath for very long. Carry a Leatherman Surge or a Sog Powerlock is a temporary thing for me because of the constant nagging weight and annoying sheath that either falls into a toilet when unbuckling or snags on a pullover. Yet I can pocket a Spyderco Military with the clip without any discomfort.
Whoever originally came up with that idea I tip my hat.

yeah, as I started to look at it again, I noticed the lock hits the pivot so it's not gonna go anywhere, MIGHT get a bit of blade play in 5 or 10 years or so, but I"m not too worried about it :)

Mine has seen some use but it only goes over about 2/3 of the way. I agree the big pivot wheel will keep it from slipping off.

This is the first multitool to stay in my pocket since the first Leatherman came out and replaced my SAK when I actually worked for a living. :)
