Decided to build a Ulu style skinner last night. It's been heat treated and ready for the final polish. Now let's see if image station works.

OK that worked. ....Let's see 5160 steel quenched in crisco...3inches long 2 inches wide. Don't know about a handle yet. I'll decide tonight.

Thanks

 i like the finish as it is. how about that special bone from wallyworld for the handle?:D

I'm out of bones Laurence. The darn dog hid the last one I had and he ain't telling. I think I decided on deer antler.

Went to the gunshow today. I saw three knife tables ( makers) the first one made me feel good. Looked like he'd been cutting sheet SS with a jig saw, the second made me feel OK but he was better. The third made me feel like hell, he was good. ...anyway finished the ulu:

That looks really AWESOME!!!!!!I bet yout knives looked better than any of the other guys at the show !!!!!
You shouldn't be to hard on yourself,You do great work.

Thanks Bruce...but Numbers 1 and 2 aside, number 3 was really good. His name was Ross Sutton and they were flawless. Most had a mirror finish with a true flawlwss mirror shine. All had beautiful Diamondwood scales and his damascus folders worked like a fluid drive oldsmobile. They were almost as nice as yours although I prefer your style of knife.

Maker number one was funny though. The blades were done to about 220 grit and he had jeweled them to add a pattern. The only problem with that was that his jig must have been canted because everyone had 3/4 of a rosette.

Oh well...I'm working on a new survival knife and it's taken me 3 hours to cut the outline. Have a good weekend.

Peter, just remember what you didn't like about other knives and what you did like and then make yours better.I just keep trying to make the next one better than the last one, which is hard to do when you have orders to do for the plainer ones, but I still work on making the fit and finishes better on each one.
Keep up the good work, you are going to make it.
Bruce
