Sweet blade - I like that simple little line you added to the sheath

And this one doesn't pop up on Urban Dictionary! :D

Seriously, Rick, that's some damn impressive work. Your handles always remind me of the handles of super-vintage kitchen knives...like ones from the turn of the century. There's just something about the simplicity of the shape, the simple pins, and the distressed finish that really create a nice organic feel. Your blades are always unique, but without sacrificing functionality. Keep up the good work, dude!

Looks very cool Rick. I almost wonder what a double stitch down the entire sheath would look like? But it is very nice as is. Looks like your are accumulating sufficient numbers of pieces for your show now.

KGD,

Rick, if I may speak out of turn, always seems to think in terms of performance. I think a double stitch would look better - but there has been debate about weakening the ability to hold the knife under stress (the zippper effect). I think a single stitch is plenty strong.

I like, too, that he doubled the stitch at the top where the welt meets the opening to strengthen that - but not too long.

That mottled look of yours, Rick, is damned nice, and it is an effect I have not been able to really duplicate. Kudos.

Why no brass rivets - I am suprised?

TF

THat thing is gorgeous Rick. I'm excited to be able to heft your knives in person at the Gathering week after next!

Another job well done Rick. I have yet to see a blade/piece of kit from your shop that I didn't like.

I agree with that, TF..... thats why I leave the beltloop stitch open-ended too. A horizontal stitch would weaken it, I believe.

The mottled look is easy, bro....... just lay the sheath on the other side of the room and throw dye at it! I showed KGD how I do it.... that explaination is not far off the truth.

Yes it killed me not to put rivets in this one... I have had alot of requests for "rivet-less" sheathes. It is still plenty strong with the heavy duty welt I put in....

Thanks for the reply oh-chodey-one.

I will have to sling the dye a little more in my shop. I, however, have been much more refined than you. I, in fact, hold my pinkie out when I hold my over stitcher.

Anything less - would be uncivilized.

TF

Yeah.... and you probably wash your hands after you go to the bathroom too!

I'll never understand you uptight snobs.... so many rules.

Rick

Wow, that is one great looking blade. After all the chit-chat about the sheath I had to scroll back up to look at it. I hadn't even seen it the first time.
Very nice!!!
