  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

New small Sebbie...

My hatchday celebration is near... my bride gave me my presents a bit early. I was elated to get a small Benchmade and a totally useless 'toy' - a double-edged plain blade Microtech Ultratech, both new. Then I made a mistake - I started reading the reports of poor QC and CS with the Ultratech. I handpicked the one she bought me - there was a tremendous range in effort required for in/out with that model in the six new examples they had, the one I wanted, of course, being the worst. The one I would get was the best. I had them with me when we revisited my local store. My friend, the salesman, told me of the new shipment of small Sebbies - and the plain ones would be pennies over the price I paid for the other two. I now have a small Sebbie!

There is bad news... I didn't 'checkout' the new small Sebbie - other than verify it was made 6/28/11 and made of S35VN, according to the sheet - it remained wrapped in a CRK towel. Besides, my wife wants something I haven't played with for my gift - so she can wrap it. How do I survive for ten days?? It will join my massive CRK collection... a StarTac Umnumzaan from last September and a Nyala from Christmas. Anxious... me?? You bet!

They were purchased south of Birmingham... from my favorite locally owned sporting goods store on US 31 in Vestavia. I was having a terrible day when my wife gave them to me early. The negative MT remarks - the variation in their examples - all weighed heavily in my mind, not to mention the quick mental arithmetic - I could have gotten a plain Jane small Sebbie for what they cost. Having just gotten a few small Sebbies in stock, that's just what I did. Ten days...
