just ordered the new SM III tai pan!
I always wanted a tai pan and an outdoorsman. I saved up and bought an outdoorsman. And by the time i had enough for the tai pan they were gone, they only had the 3v. After awhile i bought a 3v and it was cool but didnt quite do it for me. I was very excited when they announced the new SMIII products, sold the 3v and ended up having to spend the money on bills. I finally saved up enough and am very much looking forward to recieving it! Has anyone recieved theirs yet?

My first one had a gap between the blade and handle but it got replaced and the next one came scary sharp and the fit and finish was perfect. I also had the 3V and sure that steel is tougher but san mai just looks pretty! Enjoy your blade. Also it comes in a cardboard sleeve my suggestion is to leave it in that and get yourself a custom sheath because secure ex will dull it.

I got it! Will post pictures later, i am pretty happy, only room for complaint is on one side the center ridge just barely doesnt match wih where the secondary bevel grinds meet. Its literally on the edge. I feel like sending it back for that would just be nitpicking and could end up with a worse one. Honestly even my outdoorsman which was made in Japan has an unevenness here or there. Actually, the only other gripe would be that it appears they used glue where the guard meets the tang, you can barely see it. No gaps though.

Yeah mine had a gap but the grind was prettt darn good, the san mai steel makes it easier to see these tiny flaws more then my 3v tai pan but I love the san mai one I wander how I Seki made tai pan fit and finish would compare?
