Hey people , what do you thinking about this new models from sog ?

I like it ...But actualy i like more "my" vesions of new knives .I'd like that SOG made this ...but so far this is only pictures . I made it just for fun , but i hope that one day SOG will make this versinos of knives with leather handles , as it was in the past ....:rolleyes:

Thank's :) I like this knives too , but i would like more classical versions with leather handles . The kraton handles is good , but it looks a little strange on this classical blades i guess :rolleyes:
 
I too, prefer leather handles. They look just right. By the way, how is the weather in your part of Moldova?
 
I love them. The new versions of both are exactly what I've wanted SOG to do with them for a long time. Already have dibs on a new SCUBA DEMO.
 
I realize leather gives the more classical appearance and certainly has worked well thru several wars, but isn't Kraton more practical for long term use in harsh environments?

Yes the kraton handles are good , but in my experience leather handles not only looks better , but also more practical in cold weather IMHO.

Actually I started this topic hopefully that SOG will produce this knives with leather handles too , not only with kraton . Because many of my friends from Russia and Romania would like to add in their collections а classical vesrsions of this awesome knives . A few days ago i sended an email to SOG about this idea , but they did't answer yet :(

I want one of the new Kraton Handled Demo's. Wish I had snagged that Linited edition Damascus one I saw in a shop years ago.

As much as I liked the Leather handled version, with a name like Scube/Demo, you think Dive knife. The Kraton handled one will probably sell better which is a good thing for SOG. But I still would like to see a leather handled version released. Maybe just a batch after the Kryton handled one has been out for a bit. Gives more time for people to want one. ;)

Well , actually i think that DEMO is too heavy for real diver knife , also it has a leather sheath , it is definitely was not designed for diving IMHO . That is why i consider this knives more like easy available replicas, than knives for real use :rolleyes: So that is why i think about leather handles , i guess replica must be similar to historical prototype :)

Yeah, I doubt leather works real well with diving.
Not that I know, I don't swim where sharks eat. :D

Historical prototype sounds classier than replica.
Plus when I hear replica my mind thinks "cheap" or "will break if used".;)

Well , i like well made replicas , for example SOG S1 or S1T in my experience are very durable , so i would not say that "replica" means "a toy" :D IMHO
By the way , some of replicas are wery expensive :rolleyes:
 
Actually I tend to agree with Wildmanh. We were asking (or actually bugging) :D SOG to bring back the "classics". This is what we asked for and SOG delivered.

I think it's quite nice of SOG to use modern materials on a classic knife, which is something they did in the past also, transforming the classic 'S1 Bowie' to the S1T and the Super SOG Bowie.

I'm all for SOG having kraton handles on the new knives - with them I think they will be better in the outdoors (correct me if I'm wrong). But I'll admit I have a soft spot for leather handles - they add a classy look to knives but those will stay in my display cabinet!

I think the "replicas" are actually good quality like chiseliov mentioned. Haven't heard of any S1T knives breaking or such.

Well I agree it is sad ...but not only SOG made their knives in Taiwan or China . This is modern reality of knife industry IMHO. By the way , for example i have HANWEI replica of V 42 FSSF knife ( made in China ) and it is very quality knife.
