When I decided to actually "collect" knives recently vs just own a few Wal Mart beaters and my one trusty old folder....I looked at the multitude of brands and choices. I am a shooting enthusiast, so the tactical folder was the style I wanted. I even posted a thread in BF to get feedback. SOG kinda got dogged some. But at the end of the day, their AO's and some of the reviews on Youtube.com sold me.

Bottom line, I decided to go with SOG as my first brand to collect 3-5 folders. I just bought a Trident Tanto blade and have an Aegis on the way. ( I will post photos once the Aegis gets here ).

I have my eye on the Fusion Salute next, then maybe a Flash 2...but I am open. That is where this thread comes into play. Any recommendations? Price cap is $100 per blade but I don't want to burn money just to do that. I did see that SOG made 1 or 2 higher priced folders, but I am not sure that the quality to price is there without feedback or seeing/feeling one.

I've got the Twitch 2 and it's a nice little folder. I like the design and fit & finish on it and mine has no blade play.

If you like bigger folders, you should check out the Vulcan, that thing looks wicked!

I have a flash 1&2, trident and mini vulcan folders and they're all great. I've been thinking about an aegis too so you'll have to let us know what you think about it.

The only Fusion blade I've handled is the bowie and the quality just isn't there so I wouldn't waste your time with it. No matter how much I try to sharpen it I can't get an acceptable edge on it and the handle will twist if you're holding the blade. Its not much but for a fixed blade nothing should be loose between the blade and the handle. But at the same time what do you expect for a $30 blade. I did just get the micron in the mail (thanks for the freebe SOG) and it is a nice key ring knife but in general I would steer clear of the Fusion stuff.

The vulcan isn't an AO folder but the quality is top notch and it locks up rock solid. I now know why everyone is upset not too many knives are produced in Japan anymore.

All the SOG line knives you mentioned worth the $$ in my opinion.

Thanks P. Just got my Aegis in the mail today. Hoooooooooooooooyeaaaaaaaaah! Very nice man! Nutnfancy's review was dead freakin' on. Awesome blade and package. Well worth the price. My Trident tanto is pretty darn kewl too.

Ironic, I looked at the visionary 2 real hard today on another thread review. Looks like nice blade. To be honest, I will likely add the Fusion Salute next just cause it is cheap and an easy addition. I want to savor the flavor of my Aegis as an EDC for a few before I indulge in the Visionary or another blade.

i have jungle fusion, the SOG SEAL pup (my all time favorite SOG and DEFINITELY A MUST HAVE!!!), the SOG flash 2 tanto, SOG x ray vision mini (OUTSTANDING edc) and my first SOG the flash 1!

Welcome to the family.

Using you $100 cap there are quite a few options for you and you have already gotten a couple that I would have recommended. I'd say if you are willing to spend a little more than $100, you definitely need to check out the Mini X-Ray Vision or the Visionsary I. Both of those knives rotate in and out of my daily carry knives.

If you have any other questions please post them and once again welcome to the family.

Thanks friend! Yep, the Visionary I and II look pretty sharp to me.

The Seal Pup Elite is definitely one to get and use. The Mini-Vulcan is also a very well made knife. I EDC it in my rotation.

My most recent SOG is the Access Card 2.0 which I am quite taken with for EDC. It is a lot stronger than you would ever suspect without handling one.

You definitely need to find a Tigershark, just because. I prefer the old ones without serrations, but that is just me. You can find them on fleabay from time to time.

Thanks. I bought a Trident Tanto....man, it is awesome. I have my eye on the Flash2 or the Visionary II as my next SOG buy. Let me rephrase that...I am going to buy the Fusion Salute next month because it is priced right.

Check out the Tomcat 3.0. I bought one and its amazingly smooth. Locks up rock solid and workmanship is top notch. Heavy duty folder. I usually just buy US made knives, but the Japanese seem to be able to keep up very well with us when it comes to quality. I also have a Twitch XL and II and both are very high quality blades, very thin profiles and high quality materials, they are made here in the US if I recall. Just got a SOG Government Agent today, another high quality Japanese made product from SOG's recent past. Outstanding edge and well made sheath. I plan to someday try the Aegis as it looks interesting too, looks to be a nice large lightweight folder. So far I have been very happy with all my SOGs, including my PowerLock and PowerAssist.
