New SOG

I really like the features on that PowerLock 2.0, hmmmm...prices? Not that I can afford any right now.

Thanks for the link Bob. As usual, you da man.:D

I'm not sure about this one. I'm not interest in assisted opening knives. The Wave design is fast enough for me. I wonder how many places this will be illegal. Finally, as noted in the other forum, it looks like the assist takes up one whole side of the tool. I think it's a little too gimicky, even for me....

I'm not aware of many places where assisted opening knives are illegal. At least in the US.

The "piano lock" is an interesting variation on the Leatherman type lock, presumably separate "keys" will eliminate clumping. While functional, it does seem strange to me, as if it was designed to selectively unlock multiple blades at once, for some reason.

Also, it's hard to tell, but does the knife take up the entire handle, or are there other tools next to the blade?

Retail prices are a bit steep, too.

I too am still trying to figure out the logic of the piano lock keys. They look interesting, and potentially a source of failures, but I can't yet imagine what the intent is. So far I'm taking a "wait and see" attitude.

Regarding the one-hand opening blades; there appear to be two of them, with some type of assist mechanism running down the center.

Looking at the website information on the soon to come PowerAssist many of the details still seem vague. For example, look at the specs: wt 3.2 oz????? is that the weight of the whole tool, because right now the powerlock weights a hefty 10 oz. Also, is there no sizzors with this new unit? and if not can you swap out the v cutter with sizzors?

I'm wondering if the new Powerlock will be compatible with tools from older models. Granted that you can move around tools on a Powerlock now, it'd be nice to move tools to the new Powerlock (like the scissors or the saw). That way you'd really have a custom multi-tool for whatever you're doing.

I can't be certain of course, but it appears to me that the other handle (not the blade assist one) is still built like previous SOG tools, which suggests that replacement blades and such could be swapped around.
