New SOG?

I'm looking for a new fixed blade SOG. Any suggestions?

What have you already got? Ilike the Daggert's except for the serrations on one side. I like the Super Bowie, Creed, Agency, and the different variations of the original SOG Bowie. But that is only the tip for the fixed blades, and many of SOG's fixed blade knives get good reviews.

I'm looking for one with the total length of about 7.5 to 9 inches. I've put aside $150 for it. Going backpacking in Yellowstone over the summer. Lookin for a new knife

I have a SOG Seal Pup Elite. It's the only SOG I own at the moment and I think it would make a fine camp knife. It's a little too "tactical" for my taste but it's a good looking knife over all. The handle is very comfortable for me and the blade is a good length. If it were any longer I'd probably not like it as much. At 9" over all it's right at your maximum

I believe that SOG only has two knives that fit your criteria. The Field Pup and the Seal Pup. I have no experience with the field pup.

dont buy a sog....... buy a real knife like an esee or chris reeve

there fixed blades are not as expensive as their folders. you can find them around $200 to $250. save your pennies. i have found that everything sog is garbage and they are made in china, taiwan and japan and that is a no go for me

+1. Its pretty damn good knife. You could look at Adam from E2E's youtube video of test against some other similarly sized knives with the same usage profile.

I can't say that everything SOG is garbage. But I can say that every SOG folder that I have owned was garbage. My brother just bought a brand new SOG twitch and it has tons of up and down blade play. ( His old beat to heck leek he replaced never had any blade play)
I can say that I have been happy with the SOG fixed blades that I have owned. I have not bought a China SOG before (and never will) But a lot of the new stuff looks pretty bizarre and the big logos on them are a turn off to me.

If you are not limited to SOG knives then you can find much better deals and better knives for less money. For example, Russell Green River Knives, Jeff White, ESEE, Becker/Kabar, Queen, Case, Old (USA made) Schrade knives, there are even about a million knife makers on blade forums who could make you a heck of a knife for $150.

This would be my recommendation as well. SOG fixed blades aren't nearly as shoddy as their folders but given the choice, I'd spend my hard earned dollars on something other than a SOG.
