Hello,

Has anyone else seen the new SOG knives for 2000 that are using BG-42? From the crude images I've seen so far they look sweet! One is a modified tanto style fixed blade about 9 inches overall with 2 companion folders based on their Autoclip design. From what I understand the prices are going to be very reasonable. These look like must haves...

Wasn't SOG also pondering a megafolder? A BG42 megafolder would be a dream...

sounds good! the only thing i never liked about SOG was their choice of blade steels.

To their credit, them and Myerchin are known for excellent heat-treats on 440A, bringing it into the "respectable" category. Both seemed to favor it for marine-grade anti-rust properties versus "trying to be cheap".

i had heard something to that affect. i know heat treating is everything; i usually prefer carbon steel blades. i own very few production fixed blades. mainly customs; and i think there are many better choices for me personally. i've a friend that has a tigershark and he loves it.anywho, i'm very interested in seeing these new BG42 blades!

Hello,

I saw these looking through some SOG literature on stuff new for 2000. They were only line drawings and not worth posting. I find it hard to believe that either these new blades were not at the SHOT show, or they were and no one has commented on them.

Speaking of heat treatments, the Rc is spec'd to be 62-64. This seems way hard but perhaps BG-42 is tough enough to handle this?
