While browsing Lamnia for some Cs knives I noticed that the design of the Spartan has seen a big change, which I wasn't aware of.

By the looks of it, now that it's a full flat it might be slicier and possibly behave more like some sort of Rajah 2.5, which I wouldn't mind at all.

However the hollow saber grind of the old one was very iconic, and possibly better for creating a big wound canal if used in self defence.

I would also assume that the knife might be lighter now..

All in all I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

What do you guys think? Have you tried the new one already?

I got David Mary making me a tribute Matt (R.I.P) CMFTW fresno felon, from one of these new ones. unless he ends up with older stock before the change. I'll find out.

i didn't mind the old blade grind, but the new one doesn't bother me either. new grind looks much slicier, and that isn't a bad thing.

I have one, and I like it. It’s not my preferred carry by any means, as I find it a bit picky to get in and out of the pocket sometimes, just due to its unusual shape and breadth. It’s definitely comfortable in hand, though. I wish the Lynn Thompson signature model came in a plain edge. I think I’d like the smooth g10 scales more. As for the blade, it’s still large and capable, and I agree probably a better cutter than the old thicker sabre ground version.

That's interesting, I'll probably end up grabbing one sooner or later, although I'm not sure I need a "Rajah 2.5" at the moment since the Colossus I just got kinda fits that spot.
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried to measure the weight difference between the new and the old one?
