Don't know much about Sandvik blade at all. (anybody??)

I got the CPM-154 Spec Bump in Black last week and I love it but I wish I had waited for this one.

I guess this site does not sell retail? Doesn't make snce because the $119.95 is not the dealer cost. anyway here's the knife.

Kershaw's website calls it a Speed Bump, a lower price-point version of the Spec-Bump. It has injection-molded Akulon with Santoprene over mold for the handle

Yeah this model confused me too, I think they're pretty new. I found one advertised for $58.00.

Here's the important question, can this one be configured tip-up?:)

I'm one of those whiners :D who prefers to only buy tip-up folders. There's nothing WRONG with tip-down, I just don't like them.

(I think it's one of those muscle memory things - you spend a lot of time doing access drills with one style, the other is just going to feel awkward to you. I know tip-down fans who seem to feel pretty much the same.)

Wow! Sandvic! I hope it will be awailable pretty soon.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. Sandvic is name of mountan in Sweden or iron ore deposit - gift to swedish metalurgy from Mother Nature. It does not have any S and P, so no need to clean it out, so steel has much better quality for less price, as I understand.

sandvik makes many steel qualities, anybody know what steel is used in that knife, 12c27 maybe?

Hi all

The Bump you are all looking at is an exclusive knife for Moteng. It has textured G-10 scales (exactly the same as our 1st generation Spec Bump), but the steel is Sandvik 13C26 with a bead blasted finish. So, to summarize, this piece has a Spec Bump handle, and a Speed Bump blade, and no particular name. MSRP is $119.95.

Moteng is not going to advertise dealer pricing on their site.
It is a very nice piece, and very limited. A short run shipped to them recently, so they are about ready to hit the streets.

We have been using Sandvik steel on a handful of knives for a while now, and have appreciated what it brings to the table. I'm sure someone on the forum will chime in on some specifics of the steel. Sandvik 13C26 is currently being used in the E.T's., and all of our Storms. New Kershaw items that will include 13C26 will be the Cyclones, Ripcord, and Speed Bump. Look for additional Sandvik steel projects in the future from us as well.

Thanks for the clarification...
Is the Speed Bump readily available know? Does the Speed Bump have a steel liner or sub-frame under the molded handle? I want to buy either this model or the more expensive Spec Bump.

JDP1998, we are finishing up the texturing patterns on the Speed Bump now, but would guess 4 weeks or so before the 1st shipment will be out on the streets. The Speed Bump will have steel liners, the same liners as the Spec Bump to be specific.

Thanks, I'll get one...

BTW you guys make a great product. I have quite a few Kershaw knives and have never been disappointed.

i've used 12c27 and have had good results with it.i'm not sure how similar 13c26 is to it though.12c is a dream to hand rub or polish

Thomas, not to hijack the thread or anything but i'm getting ready to get a tactical blur....$50....wouuld say thats a pretty good knife....kinda leary of the 440a though....thx/paul

Paul, I may be slightly biased when it comes to giving out opinions on Kershaw products, but for $50 it's a very good price on one of our better selling AO's. The Blur has been thoroughly discussed on this forum, with most giving a positive rating. A search should bring you the conformation you are looking for. Thanks for the interest in our product(s).
