After reading all the kudos for Spyderco knives in the forums I decided to try them for myself. I went to our local bi-monthly gun and knife show this morning, and one of my goals was to come up with a spidie to play with. Since I've been curious to try out a seriously serrated edge I looked for one in that configuration. I played the wheel and deal game and ended up with two, a plain-edge Blackhawk and a serrated Viele, both NIB, for $75 each.
First impressions:
Blackhawk-A bit tight, but looks to be adjustable; no-nonsense handle material; nice blade shape for utility use, shaving sharp right out of the box.
Viele-Beauty, eh? A really high class look neatly contrasted with mean-ass serrations! Liner lock engages a bit more than I would like, but rock-solid. Guess I'll make it my EDC for a while and check out the effectiveness of the serrations for daily use.
If anyone has any suggestions or comments about these knives feel free to jump in!
