My first Spyderco is tracking to be delivered tomorrow. Ordered the Paramilitary 2 as the reviews were positive. Expending my collection by adding a Spyderco. I am looking forward to playing with it.

Counting a PM collection (that is now gone), I've had well over a hundred. By far, the greatest folder that I've ever run across... I only have a couple left...but I love 'em.
You will be pleased... Congrats!

I like the PM2 as well!

Congrats.

Very good choice. My wife, Step-daughter, and I spent the day at the beach today. Carried my Para 2 since I figured something smaller than my usual Military would be more discreet.

Carrying and using it reminded me how great it is, and why I still have it. :)

Congrats! And welcome to the addiction. Pm2's are so perfect you'll want one in all the best steels.

The PM 2 is nice. It was a touch large for my tastes, so as soon as I handled a PM 3 I was in love. It's an ultra popular series of knives for a reason, it does a lot right. The PM 3 isn't an improvement, just a complimentary brother to the PM 2.

Best part is that if you love the knife but not the steel, there's a million different options out there in sprint runs that you can get.

I would suggest getting some diamond sharpeners, though, if you don't have any. S30V is an entirely different steel if you do full diamonds, for me it went from not holding a proper sharp edge even slightly to downright impressive edge retention. This is on cutting dirty cardboard, few steels can have shaving edges that survive more than a few cuts in that.

Damn things are worse that Lays potato chips!!!

Nice knives!! I have Benchmade knives, ZT knives, and a ProTech. I thought the Spyderco would be nice. I was hoping I will actually use it. My other knives get carried but I don't cut anything with them. They are just too sweet to be cutting cardboard. They are sharp and I like my EDC that way. Impatiently waiting for the mail lady :).

The PM2 begs to be used!

It was my first as well, well actually I ordered an all black PM2 and Para 3 at the same time, so it was half of my first Spyderco???.

I think this is ... wrong. IMHO, the whole point of a knife is to use it; cardboard, food, straps, ties, whatever falls into the non-stupid use of a knife. I understand (but do not have) safe queens... this is what happens when the price of a knife is so great it crosses the line into purely 'art' or 'display' territory. If you treat anything you carry in this manner then you desperately need some users. (I hope the pm2 fills this role for you).

Am I the only one who thinks carrying an 'EDC' that you don't use because it's 'just too sweet' is the definition of useless?

Well thanks for the input .

I received my knife today. It's really pretty sweet! It is pretty stiff opening but I would guess that to be normal. I am still flipping my ZT to get it broken in. Once the Para 2 is broken in, I will probably start carrying it. I guess just wanting a Spyderco is the wrong answer.

Not at all wrong, in my opinion. I've bought knives just for the sake of having them in my collection. I've even been known to carry a knife knowing I probably will use the knife in my other pocket instead for any cutting chores that crop up. There's no wrong way to collect knives. Collect what you want; use what you want. Enjoy the hobby your way. Congrats on your first Spyderco!
