What's this I hear about a new knife, designed by Bram Frank, called the "Gunting"?

Any pix available? How about specs and expected release date, etc?

TIA.

Dave.

Dave,

Check this thread from last week:

AFAIK, there is no real info about it yet. Should be pretty cool though. I'm curious as to whether they license the Rolling Lock for it though

I think I read somewhere that the rolling-lock negotiations fell through. Oh well, I hope Sal and crew are making progress on the Sypdie-Lock.

No Rolling lock. But for those following. We tested a "Gunting" proto yesterday that went over 900 inch/lbs with our new lock and we're still refining.

Sal,

Are you showing that secret, in-house Spydie lock at Blade, or sooner...?

I am antsy with anticipation...

Also, will you please post when your MBC catalog is available.

Thanks,

How do you pronounce that? Gunting as in "goon-ting" or "gun-ting"?

Dan

Dannyc-
Since you're in the P.I. shouldn't you be telling us?

dannyc: I'd take either..LOL!I guess I say gun-ting to seperate it from goon -ting motion....but my pronunciation and others hearing makes it sound like either..LOL!
soooooo
Of course you can see where the tool is going by its name?
Plus a really strong lock..very cool.

SAl, I want to thank you and Vince and the rest of the staff for getting prototypes of the GUNTING for me to take to RUSSIA to show President Putin. Vince told me the lock exceeded 1000 inch pounds...thats one tough lock!Peter has assured me they will be here in the am....very cool!
Jon Cox has made a fixed blade neck knife from the patent drawings. It has a moran edge and it works great at hunting & skinning. Seems the GUNTING handle design allows no slippage when wet or bloody.
Anyways..I'll talk to you when I get home from Russia!
Thomas wil be in Germany at the show to help with the Gunting!

I'm out the door to RUSSIA with the GUNTING prototypes in my hand! F***ING AWESOME! gads!I can't belive how good a job SPYDERCO did!but of course.integrity is being good even if no one is watching...
the trainer drone is red and effective and the sharp one is amazing! Peter canceled some work at the office to come fondle them this morning BEFORE I left...
This is a WINNER! production here we come!
Thanks Sal and Spyderco!!!

Bram - actually, the last test was only 937 inch/lbs, but we believe we can pull another 100 inch/lbs fairly easily.

We're calling it a "Compression Lock" (TM).

sal

Sal,
I the new "Compression Lock" of ambidextrous design? Is it only going to be offered on the Gunting, or will it be coming out on other models as well?

Thanks,
Mitch
