In the past month, I have been able to demo a UK PK (keeper), Endura traded, and a Tenacious (keeper). After going through several benchmades, CRKT's and Kershaws I was able to try these three Spyderco out. I avoided the brand at first, poo pooing on the fact that all of their knives kinda look all the same.
That said I understand now. The form and functionality...no nonsenseness of the design is pretty darn impressive. Blades and quality control were great on all three pieces that I received. The Kershaws were all slick in their design, I had a Chill, Cryo and Leek. I ended up deassisted the Cryo and Leek. Will keep the Cryo and trade the Leek. The Chill I gave away.
After putting the Tenacious and UKPK through its paces though of hiking, gardening and keeping on my person M-F while I'm at a desk job, I'm hesitant to get a really pricey blade. The Spydercos do everything that I might personally need in an EDC and then some. The only thing I can imagine right now for my general light duties is a small fixed blade.
Do you Spyderco feel similar about the brand. I'm sure it hasn't stopped most from collecting knives. But I just wanted to voice most likely another affirmation of the brand. I might have to pick up one of those Ti Spydie frame locks instead of the Alias 2 that I was originally going to pull the trigger on. Any advantages of the Ti version as a material besides being supercool?
