Just got my Spyderco Tenacious in the mail today. I had a hard time convincing myself not to get another kershaw, but I decided I needed some more variety. Very pleased with the knife so far, seems very high quality especially for appx. $35. I love the flat grind blade, and the G10 is awesome. Maybe it is my imagination but it seems like it has a little more texture than the G10 on my kershaw skyline.

I do like the trademark big circular hole, but at this point I do think I still prefer the "flipper" configuration of the skyline. I do love the Tenacious don't get me wrong, but I bet if Spyderco made a small mod and put a flipper nub on this knife it would sell like crazy. I know they have an appx. $200 flipper, but something at a lower price point would sell like crazy I bet.

Overall I am very impressed with my first spyderco and I will definitely be carrying it in the weeks to come!

I used to be a "flipper" guy myself. Then I bought the Rubicon and sold it. Lol the spydie hole won me over, and I just didn't like the flipping action anymore. Sit with your knife, and practice flicking it open with the spydie hole. Once you nail it, it all just blends.

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy your new purchase. Also, there is something to say for a nice slow roll opening of that blade anticipating that wonderous sound of the lock engaging.

From one newly-minted Spydie fan to another: WELCOME!! Just be warned -- that Tenacious will probably NOT be your last Spyderco (the Cat I started with just weeks ago was followed very quickly by a Squeak). Don't be surprised if your wish list fills up with more!

It took me a long time to get my first Spyderco. I had Benchmade, Kershaw, ZT, and others before I finally said "F*** it, I'm going to spend the $40 and just try the Tenacious". I'm glad I did. I still haven't drank the Spyderco Kool Aid like some others here, but I have my second on the way to me right now; a PM2. I have a sinking feeling this will be the one that gets me hooked. I personally love changing back and forth between a flipper, thumb stud, and hole. It keeps everything fresh. :)

I always carried a rotation of ZT's, Kershaw, and a Boker auto. Last week I recieved in the mail my first Spyderco. Nothing has ever come so sharp out of the box as the flat grind Delica I ordered. Crazy sharp, light, and I love how it feels like it disappears in my pocket. I still have a thing for flippers, but way more impressed with this blade than I thought I would be. It's been a week and the Delica has been the only thing in my pocket. Still a little tight, but I am sure it will loosen up over time.

The tenacious is a great knife once you get use to the spydie hole, you can get it to fly open. I still like the flippers and thumb studs, but I'm now kind of partial to the spydie hole.

The thumb flick is definitely more satisfying to me than a flipper mechanism (Despite the fact that I do like my Domino quite a lot), and it also gives you the option of a slow and controlled opening in front of sheeple if the need arises.

Like Ecchi said.. hold on to your money, once you get the Spyderco bug your going to be expanding that little collection pretty soon! hehe

I find the hole much more natural than a flipper. I've only owned a Skyline (I gave it to my dad), however, the flipping part was tedious. I'm a 'Spyder-hole' and back lock type of guy.

I gifted a Persistence to my sister's BF, and he really likes it. He said he likes it more than the Skyline he's borrowed. My sister loves the pink Squeak I gave her, and now her Schrades are collecting dust - she works retail and opens lots of boxes/packages. She's gotten compliments from both employees and customers. My brother, after giving him a Skyline, Rat 2, Zancudo and Manix 2, has requested I add a purple Endura to my next order. And like myself, he's got money set aside for the ROC when it arrives. Lol. I think my mother needs a Spyderco Santoku knife for the kitchen, and my brother's GF has asked for a knife for Christmas. She's getting a purple Dragonfly, lol. I lent my Delica to my dad the other day, because as expected the Skyline I gave him has been misplaced. He was shocked as to how sharp it was. "That's a really nice, really sharp little knife." Why yes, yes it is! I'm helping to spread the fever. :D

If this is your first Spyderco... I'd lock your bank account, hide your wallet... On second thought, you should probably just get a second job now... It's going to be hard to resist but before you know it you will most likely have about 20 of them.

The Tenacious was my first Spydie too. Then I bought a Sage 1. Then a PM2. And since then it's been out of control!!! I now have all versions of the PM2, including sprints and exclusives. And am now looking for CruWear Manix as my next purchase. They are very addicting!

Welcome aboard, Vic. I've pretty much owned 'em all at some point (bought my first Spydie in 1995, been buying 'em ever since). And for my EDC utility blade, I carry a Manix II Lightweight or an Endura 4 FFG - sometimes both:

Love both of those blades.

Congrats on your first Spyderco! Try any Taichung made version that appeals to you when you can afford it, you'll be glad you did.

The Tenacious is one of the best values in the knife world.

Hole vs. flipper- I like the hole better.

I used to be a flipper guy. But, I came back to the Spydie hole years ago and have not looked back.

I hope the OP has a good job. He will need it to buy all the Spydercos his new addiction is going to require.

welcome, seems when someone says the name spyderco the next thing that comes to mind is tenacious! vary popular and alot of bang for the buck, now if spyderco would offer a flipper for under say $130. but i'm fine with the spyderhole .
