Got 2 spyderco knives and in love with both of them.

in fact, my GF loves it so much she asked for a southard for xmas.

anyways, I got the matriarch 2 waved and a southard I got used from a member here.

now im thinking about getting a military?

One thing I dont like about spyderco is the clips (sharp) and the heel of blade prevents sharpening at the end of heel.

by the way, my southard kicked the sebenzas out of my pocket, which I did not expect. Once I get honduran or CF scales its going to be such a sweet knife!

Welcome, two fine knives ya got there. Be sure to check out the new all black Southard thats coming out soon in case you havnt
I have a waved endura and matriarch 2 but not the waved matriarch 2. Dont need it but will have it someday, its NASTY!

Military is a staple. Nothing about it that I personally do not love. Its big, but G10 and CF versions carry like a dream. If you like a little more heft the Ti version feels like a completly different knife if you have been used to G10 ones for years. And I say that in a good way, love it.

Clips, sharp? What negative effect is it creating for you? Havnt heard many complaints about the clips, then again fan boys like to hang with fan boys :D I kid. Welcome to the madness.

Eric

congrats on your knives. I picked up a waved matriarch 2 recently and it is wonderfully wicked. Never had a problem with the clip, and not entirely sure what you mean by sharp, but maybe check out a wire clip spyderco. Totally different I know, but I think the sage 2 is just about the perfect knife for edc. I have an older foliage green g10/ s30v ukpk with a wire clip also and it is great, and ridiculously light. anyways, I'd check out the sage series for a deep carry clip. otherwise, a para2, endura, delica, military, and some others may well be in your future. I love all of my knives, but I always end up carrying a chokwe or sage 2. And I have done things to my endura that should not be done to a knife, and it is still working far too well..congrats, good luck, and use 'em. it is the best part

I heard about the black ones, but I am getting wooden scales made so the factory scales are not my thing.
I love titanuim (sebenza fan), so maybe Ti for me.

the clip on the southard is just plain terrible, I want to remove it.

for one, its not designed for the knife in my opinion, ill show pics later, but it looks its for a different knife. Its shredding my slacks and jeans.
2nd, material looks like cheap steel, not titanium.

No need for pics, I had one. I wouldnt base your opinion on spydercos clips solely on that one. It is the only one like it in the spyderco line if not mistaken. That is one of the models that I have seen clip criticism on though so you are not alone. I didnt have much negative to say about it then again I didnt carry mine much as I have too may too rotate and it never was prefer over many others I have. Still kinda wierded out about spydercos with a flipper :p Love the knife though, just not my ideal cup of T.

Love the wireclip. Wish the zdp/cf dfly had one. Still one of my favs though.

I hear you about the Southard clip. If I was to keep the stock clip, I'd file down those sharp edges. But I like deep carry clips, and STR makes a very good, unique one for the Southard. A bit pricy, but it takes care of my clip issues so totally worth it to me.

Yup, +1 to this for the Southard. The STR clip is a vast improvement over the original pocket stabber clip. I have three of them, and I swear by them.

Welcome to the Spyderco world, you sure did start off right with those knives, especially the Southard. If you like large knives then the Military is a good option, but the Paramilitary 2 fits most peoples needs better.

Hit up STR for a new pocket clip it'll be titanium. I think the military clip is same if not very similar to the tuff and it works great no sharp point like my southard. Disclaimer : I don't have an issue with my Southard just have to pay a little extra attention when pocketing it.

Welcome to the club.

Spent a few hours taking off shoulders, what an awesome blade steel!

Almost polished up, ill post pics when finished. This thing flies through cardboard.

Welcome!

IIRC, Unit (Ken) has a video on YT showing the trick to get into that last part of the heel.

I carry my knives clipless in a pouch that helps keeping them vertical in pocket. Have tried several times going with clip, can't really enjoy it.

Hmm I usually carry my sebenzas that way, but the pouch is time consuming, especially when you need knife to open many boxes.

thanks everyone for the replies!

If you don't mind a little bit of modification, the deep carry clip by theoriginalspaceman is really quite nice. The clip is designed more for Delica-PM2, but augment the two holes that you'll use for the Southard, and it'll fit quite well.

No Sebenza has ever kicked my Southard out of my pocket for more than 10 Hours. Only time it has been more is when my Southard is being serviced or modified. It's just that good.

Take a look at the Paramilitary 2 if you don't like the Military. The para is truly an awesome knife, it's the only one in my collection that has earned the "never get rid of" title. I like it that much.

Military is longer? I prefer the longer one. And in Ti.

my GF wants another southard and then the new supposed black southard.

so im not sure if I even want the military anymore haha.

Hey, HwangJino, I can't seem to p.m. you. So Ill ask here about one of your knives that has a snake pattern patina. I didn't understand the instuctions you gave do you mind telling me more. thanks

Sure, I mixed some lemon juice with sriracha (hot sauce, to add texture since lemon juice kept running).

I'm new to Spyderco myself, only a few hours since my first one arrived, a Ulize. It's already my Avatar and a valued companion.
