I just saw Spyderco announce the new Lil’ Native. What are your thoughts?
I like the blade shape and the lock. I also like the belt clip, and I wish they had more of those available for different knives. They don’t offer them for my Manix 2.
Of course, we’re just going off of pictures at this point, but what do you think?

I'm really looking forward to it, I'm interested in what a small knife with a compression lock will be like. I think its a solid contender for a dragonfly replacement.

As far as pocket clip goes, I'm not sure what you mean? The wire clip has to be part of the design for it to work, so unfortunately there is no easy way to go from a solid clip to wire.

I just wish they figured out a way to put the wire clip on more of their designs because it looks so good. I’m not a huge fan of their standard clip. Just looks better in my opinion.

Makes sense. Its why they have a forum here, Sal takes a lot of feedback from the fans. Although the designs often are limited by other considerations. I do like wire-clips myself, though I do find they can get caught on certain things more easily.

Compression locks and wire clips are always ok with me. I hope it's using thin stock though. If they stick with the same thickness I won't be buying one.

It agree. It looks like a Chaparral. There are some subtle differences but very similar. It lacks the half thumb ramp of the Chap and I expect it will be slightly shorter and maybe a tad thicker. The Chaparral's blade is 2.8 inches and I think the Lil' Native will be 2.5 inches. The Chaparral is also super slicey with it's 2mm stock. I am not sure what the stock will be on the Lil' Native.

It is certainly similar to a Compression Lock Chaparral which is pretty cool in my opinion.

I thought they were coming out with a new knife, it turns out it's just a redesign of a current knife made smaller. That's fine and all but I wasn't expecting that when they built up its hype.

I think it will be great for edc and if they make one in cf I may think about it. But still not a fan of compression locks over frame locks.

I’d call it a new platform. They’ll have this in compression, back lock and slip joint. Seeing that they’re starting with S30V, I would expect a few sprints.

Bladehq lists the blade as 0.13", same as the big one. for comparison they list the dragonfly at 0.1" so it should be tanky little folder.
