When you get right down to it, the prototypes *are* customs. They are hand-made by the skilled craftsmen at Spyderco before the tooling is made for mass production.

And I do like the looks of that Vallotton.

The scales on the Memory are Titanium.

Hey Vwspdshp,

Butch Vallotin was the first maker to use thumbstuds as the opening method and the stop pin. Hi did so at least 15 years ago that I remember. Many have used thumb studs as stop pins since. I thought it was a good idea to give him the credit for his innovation so I asked him to include that feature on this knife along with the opening hole.
