I heard from someone that there's going to be a new Spyderco Howard Viele model. Is this a totally new model or just an enhancement of the original? Also, if ever, when is it coming out?

TIA

I believe the Viele has been re-engineered to use the eccentric pivot for liner-lock adjustment (like the Military and Starmate) as well as the offset arc ramp. Also the steel has been upgraded to VG10. With better steel and an adjustable pivot, most of the criticisms of the original knife have been addressed and it must now rate as one of the nicest gentleman's folders on the market. Only problem is, how do I justify buying one when I already have the original model

BTW the KnifeCenter claims to have them in stock already.

Thanx Clay. That is exactly what happened. The new Viele's are back in production and we've been shipping back orders daily.

They are very nice with the refinements.

Anthony,

The KnifeCenter has updated it's Viele page. It now lists the steel as VG10. A couple of other points I picked up from their updated review are that the knife now has three posts along the back rather than the short spacer and it is screwed instead of riveted.

Great link Clay. Thanks. Now we just have to wait for some of the other discount stores to get them in stock.

Clay,

Thanks for the info. No sooner did I post the question I happened to go to my local knife store and I saw a new VG-10 Viele.
