Not too long ago I received my Spyderco CF Police (Serrated) and my new CS Outdoorsman (See other thread). I have owned a SS Serr Police in G2 since the early 90's and thought I would give this one a go around real fast.

I moved to the Pacific Northwest from CT (& NYC Before that!) recently, so I have been skiing, camping, hiking, biking, shooting, and pretty much anything else the area can offer. When I moved, I left my ENTIRE collection, except a Delica, BM 330, REKAT Pioneer II, and Falkniven neck piece, with a friend in NY. IT HURT BELIVE ME!

So, I needed something a little more substantial than my REKAT, which can do ALMOST everything, albeit w/out serrations. So, I picked up my CF Police ASAP. It's #261 out of 600 I think...and from what I understand...Spydie goes 00P, 000, 001, then 600, 599, 598, or something like that. However, I may have been mis-informed (Sal chime in anytime!)

I LOVE THE KNIFE. It weighs alot less than my SS Police, and the mod to the lockback mech is PERFECT for when I am working with gloves. I have worked outside and with the Navy on ships for years, and climber towers for antenna work before that in NY, and let me tell you, the hole and the tough lockup is VERY appreciated. Now, my old one, in G2, cuts and holds an edge AWESOME. However, I never really sharpened it myself, but reather sent it away to Spydie and paid to have it done right. Now, my new one...I used ALOT and dulled it with rope, and hemp, and nylon, and ...etc etc etc. And for the FIRST TIME, I was able to (W/204) to sharpen a Spydie to LIKE NEW EDGE! WOW! Very Sharp. Now, I have a Military, and loved it, and yes, it was sharper when it was new, BUT NOT NO MORE!

With every aspect of the knife pretty much the same, I just want to comment on the lock and the CF material. The lock mod to the "button" where some material was removed to help the user avoid inadvertently unlocking the knife is nice...BUT, with gloves on it is a double edge sword-Harder to unlock still means harder to unlock, however you look at it. I think however, intentionally having to press harder when you WANT to unlock the thing is better than ACCIDENTLY opening the thing! The carbon fiber AMAZES ME! I have a BM in CF, and it is light, and strong, and RESILENT. But the SPYDIE setup is AWESOME and I can't figure why. It has 1/2 liner setup, which most likely explains it, but is hardly has shown ANY signs of wear after a solid month of FLAT OUT USE. (If I say abuse, Spydie may not ever service it). Also, my SS G2 Police lacks the adjustable torx/allen head screw for speed/opening adjustment, which was the ONLY thing that switched me to an AFCK back in the day for an EDC.

Some people may collect these things, like me, and put them in a case or something and just admire with kit-gloves. Not me!!! I am gonna beat the heck and get my money's worth out of this thing. I bought a tool and look forward to using it. I expect it will hold up BETTER than SS POLICE has, and 10 yrs from now, as we talk about a new POLICE made from say, transparent alluminum (ode to Trekie's everywhere) this puppy will still be going strong, albeit on my SON;s hip, not mine.

Thanks Sal...another stand-up product from a stand-up guy and company!

Thanks for the review. The Police is really an exceptional knife, whether the handle is CF, SS or G-10.

I have one on the way and can't wait until it arrives. Great review I might add. Been there and done that in the Bremerton Shipyards. I know you work your butt off out there. Take care!!
