I bought a Pink Squeak for my lady a while back, and have been wanting one since. With a move back to the city coming up, I bought one for discreet carry. The pivot on the Squeak I got turned with the blade as it closed for the first couple openings, but now doesn't seem to. Is this normal? Also, there is noticeable blade play from side to side, you can feel and see it. Is this normal? I didn't really look super closely, but I don't remember there being any on my lady's Squeak. Thanks for any info/advice/help in advance.

First, compare it with your wife's Squeak. Check whether there are any unusual gaps/spaces between the scales and the blade. Check to make sure the blade itself is not bent or deformed in any way. If none of the above...should be adjustable using the proper size Torx tools (your pivot is probably loose). There are some nice quality ones available online at Amazon and such.

The most common I have found are T-6 and T-8, body/stop pin and pivot screw respectively. Some Chinese-made Spydercos had hex screws at one point. No idea on the Squeak, sorry.

Good tools can save you money!

If both sides have a place for a torx tool, you may have to buy a cheap hollow-handle Torx screwdriver at your local hardware store to hold that side in place. Go easy, and if it is too difficult, try heating it a bit with a hairdryer to loosen the Loctite around the pivot screw.

Hi ALLHSS,

Doesn't sound right. As mentioned, compare it to the other one. You may need to send it back to the dealer for a replacement, or send it to us at Spyderco.

Wow, first off thanks for the response! I was thinking it is probably just a bit loose at the pivot, as it seems to have less friction (not spring tension) than my girlfriends. Ill have to steal hers (she's very protective of it) tomorrow and look for any discrepancies. I hope it does just turn out to be loose so I can start using it! (just for the record, I've never had or used a spyderco that still had side to side play after adjustment, so I'm hopeful)

Thanks for the great advice! I will definitely take a closer look at my girlfriends, and try some adjustment (I'm just not used to adjusting yet, still apprehensive about it)
