So, I just received a new Alox Classic in the mail yesterday and noticed something different about it. The blank panel on the back side has "VICTORINOX" engraved in it in the company font. I've always seen these blank, to be engraved by the owner if desired. Does anyone know when they started this? I'm positive the knife is NIB; it came in a sealed box from a reputable seller.

I bought one for my wife last Friday in Portland and its the same as you describe and it was in a sealed box.
Hope this helps, Chance.

Bad form by Vic: makes it impossible to personalize a knife for a gift, etc. I don't like it.

Very dumb move for Victorinox. It already has the name on the blade so we know who makes it. Nowyou can't have it engraved for a gift. Great move, Vic.

I got my latest alox, the Pioneer, the other day. The engrave plate was blank. Now I have to find a local engraver to personalize it.
