I was on the phone with Bob and he mentioned he would have some knives at Blade (not his own table, but his knives will be here and there). He mentioned in passing that he is using a new kind of steel but then we got on to another subject and I didn't ask what steel he's using now...anybody know??

Probably CPM 154, but I'm just guessing. Bob has been known to use a lot of different steels, so it could be just about anything.

I just recieved a few folders from him, ans they are CPM154. I like it:)

About 4 months ago he told me that he'd begun using the CPM 154 exclusively. That's what I've seen in his knives lately as well.

Actually, it seems like it's been a while since Bob used D2 as his main knife steel. Before he started using this CPM 154 a lot, he was mainly using S30V for at least 1-2 years, as far as I can tell.

A lot of makers are switching over to CPM 154 as their standard knife steel. From what I'm told, it performs nearly as well as S30V (though it's not quite as tough), but it's a lot easier to work and finish.

Hmmm.....
Well..... his website hasn't been updated. Does this refer to his fixed blades as well as folders?

I was referring to his folders. To be honest with you, I really haven't seen too many of his fixed blades around, so I'm not really familiar with them.
