Guys, I received a new Kershaw Steven Seagal model 1680 a little while ago and thought I'd share some pics and thoughts. First, let me say this knife is absolutely elegant. Fit and finish are just beautiful. The blade is highly polished, the action is smooth as silk and the rayskin is very well done. A real gentleman's knife. Where the liner makes contact with the blade is just right and this lock should last longer than I will. The only negative thing I have to say is the knife did not come as sharp as I've come to expect from my ZTs. Nothing that can't be fixed, but the edge doesn't seem to be as toothy as a ZT edge.

I'm afraid my picture taking skills aren't very good but here are a couple quick and dirty shots. I'll try to follow up with some better pics at a later date.

Editted to add that this model is very different from a ZT knife. ZTs, it seems to me are SO rugged it seems they are indestructible while the 1680 just seems to be very refined.

Thanks for looking.

One of the most overlooked pieces in Kershaw history IMO

The Steven Seagal model is the first Keshaw, other than some ZTs I've ever owned. I just loved the design, based on research I'd done. The pictures I've seen, and that I took, do not do this knife justice. It is a joy to hold. If there are other Kershaws out there of the same quality, I'd sure like to know about them.

Hi Willieboy -

Nice - thank you for the pictures.

I had not seen a good shot of one of these until now.

best regards -

Thanks MQQN. What my pics don't show is the mirror polish of the blade and the overall smoothness of the knife. It reminds me of the old ASP 9mm pistol with its butter smooth edge melting job. GaryXD has a nice picture on page one of the Kershaw/ZT pic thread. I've also seen beautiful pics of this knife elsewhere on BF.

Great knives and as Dave stated overlooked. I think perhaps the Steven Segal name did it harm and had it been plain it would have sold much better. Too bad they were a short lived run. Dave had them for under $40 back in the day!!!!!!

As to Segal himself, I was a fan years ago, but not so much now. Having spent years studing Tae Kwon Do, I respcted his early days, but I find it hard to accept his present attitude and shape. look at Chuck Norris as he kept it together as he grew older.....

I think you're in for a treat.

Love these knives! I have one in my collection, take it out and fondle it every once in a while; wish I had a second one to carry!

I really enjoyed his early movies. Some of my favorite martial arts scenes are in his first Above the Law and in under siege as Casey Ryback. Great knife fight scene with tommy lee jones. After that his films did poorly in the theaters and with me. But I greatly admire his early work. The knife intrigues me. Can anyone tell me if it a flipper or an assisted opener? I just might get one if a good deal comes along sometime.

Scenes from "The Patriot" were filmed in the steam tunnels at the university I went to. We were always trying to find a way to sneak in. I did manage to get on to the roof of one of the dorms. The guy from high school that went with me now works in their high performance computing research group and has been down there several times and discovered we didn't need so much planning and could have walked in if we knew the right door. Yes this post has been pretty much completely off topic! :)

I don't own one. But from the pics looks like it has a tiny flipper and similar shape as the Storm II I've got sitting here beside me.

It is a flipper opening and very very smooth. Well built and nice fitting in your hand.....
