These are a result of a few projects that I worked on to take up time while
waiting for the furnace to get up to temp or while I'm tempering knives for special orders.

This one is Devon Thomas Damascus, 50,000 year old Ancient Kauri, Elephant
Ivory wedge and nickel silver hardware. It became my daily shaver.

This one went down to WNCRanger in Phoenix for ;) "Testing" ;)...
It's made with 52100 High Carbon steel; actual Brazilian Rosewood
(thanks Ray!) Amboynia Burl wedge, and nickel silver hardware.

This one was just plain fun. It is also Devon Thomas
Damascus
, Jade G10 with Black G10 wedge and nickel silver hardware.

Wayne, I've been testing my razor now for about a week now and can report that this is the sweetest razor I have ever shaved with. She holds an edge like nobody's business and leaves skin feeling as smooth as a baby's bottom. Clean up is a snap and there is no sign of any staining or blemishing on the blade. Believe it or not, I went for a week without stropping the razor you made for me just to see how the edge held up - it did just fine. I can't wait to see more of your razors out there and am gonna go broke building a collection of your fine work. Also, as you know Wayne, I also shave with your knives and made a video to prove it, lol.

Folks, Wayne has got a way with heat treating that is like nothing I have ever seen. I can bang away on his knives all day, strop them a few times and then shave with them. His razors and knives look like safe queens, but I don't cotton to that. I *USE* my knives, just ask Wayne. Now, I don't abuse them, but I baton with them, and use them around home, camp and in the field every day. They clean up easy and hold an edge like you wouldn't believe.

I'm not trying to "sell" you on anything, I am just *that* impressed. I own a lot of knives and have had the privilege of handling a lot more. Wayne's knives, and now razors, are in a class all on their own. Whatever he is doing in that magical shop of his is just that, magic. He also has an eye for materials, knowing just what to use to bring one of his creations to life. I say life because his knives, at least to me, *feel* alive. Every one of them has the absolute most comfortable grip I have *ever* come across. From his large knives to the smallest, each one fits my hand perfectly. Wayne must have "everybody hands", lol.

His magical heat treat oven and wizardly way of tempering knives and razors is, well, magical to behold. I can sharpen his knives to insane angles and they don't chip out or deform under use. Scary sharp? Try insanely, terrifyingly sharp! And they hold that edge beyond what I consider normal. Yet they are so easy to touch up. Most times, I don't even have to hit the stones, just strop them a few times and they are good to go.

Wayne is one of the knife world's hidden secrets. Count yourself fortunate to carry one of his blades, knife and or razor. He is a perfectionist like you can't imagine. You should see his cast off knives. You would weep with me, trust me on this. I would give my left leg to own them but for whatever reason, a slight blemish here - an angle off there, he declares them unfit and cast off they become.

Wayne is one of the kindest and smartest people I have met, incredibly smart but humble. I recently spent a week visiting him and watching him work. A couple of gentlemen from Norway came to visit him in his shop while I was there to pick up a knife one of them had custom ordered. It was amazing to observe.

Thanks, Wayno! I can't sing your praises high enough. You are an absolute master of your craft and I absolutely love you for it.

Those are great looking razors! I'm always on the lookout for a new straight. What steels (other than Damascus) do you use? Just 52100, or others as well?

Sodak -

My absolute favorite is O1 but I like most all of the high carbon tool steels. I've never been a big fan of any of the stainless steels for either my knives or my razors. It's just a pleasure to finish out a piece that you know the heat treat is just dialed in on.

Fingers crossed, I'll be finishing up a few new ones as well as a few restores this weekend. Speaking of restores and refurbs, man I'm getting backed up on the especially with the holidays coming so soon. I'll make sure to drop you a PM when they are complete so you can take an advance peek at them.

Thanks for the interest.
Take care and may God Bless.
